My new favorite gadget!
We love tacos, so we decided to give homemade tacos a try. Wow! What a difference... This little guy is my new favorite gadget.
We used Maseca corn flour. Basically you just mix water, maseca and salt according to the instructions on the flour packaging and you're ready to press.
Very handy that the press comes with instructions too (use a zip lock bag cut to make 2 squares, and place the ball of masa slightly off-center towards hinge). We got it right the first time.
Can't wait to test this also to make Patacones / Tostones - seems to be the only press I've seen equipped to tackle that job. Very well built!

I love this!
Last night I made tortillas for the first time and I don't plan to ever BUY them premade again! I mixed up a simple dough of flour, baking powder, salt and crisco then let it sit wrapped in plastic for 30 minutes while I made the taco meat and chopped up all of the veggies. I set this iron on my small burner on the stove at high. Not sure it even needs cooking spray because I only used it on the first few I made and they all turned out perfect! Made nice soft tortillas like flat bread that didn't break when bent.

Excellent. The weight and style make pressing tortilla effortless. Never going back to store bought tortilla.

My cast iron tortilla press has been working great for over a month now, and I've used it 5 times. My only concern is the cheap rivet/hole/cotter pin assembly holding the handle onto the press. The whole unit is sturdy, heavy cast iron, yet this one key hinge piece is made from cheap tin. I haven't seen any signs of wear yet, but I expect if there is any thing that will fail on this item, it will be this.

Super handy kitchen gadget
Love to make tortillas with my own selection of ingredients, can be neutral, savory or sweet.

!. Make dough to cookie consistency.
2. Use large ice cream scoop to make tortilla between two sheets of wax paper.
3. Stack them on flat surface in freezer until frozen solid.
4. Cook on Med-Med/High on nonstick skillet.

Also, I like the weight and appearance of this tortilla press.
I have attached the handle, but usually will just press on the top with my hand because it's faster.

Never thought they'd be this easy (and delicious)!
I purchased this because I live overseas where tortillas are not readily available. Homemade tortillas are so easy to make and taste so much better than store-bought ones, I now question why I didn't get one years ago. I use the freezer bag as a liner to keep the press clean and nonstick. I highly recommend this brand as the cast iron is heavy and using this requires minimal effort.

Is the handle made out of cast iron?
A shopper on Nov 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it’s all cast iron. I am very happy with the press!
Can you warm this on the stovetop and cook the tortillas in the press?
A shopper on May 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I wouldn't warm it on the stovetop. You would need to wear oven mits since the whole press would heat up and I do not know if the high heat would damage the hinges and screws. I use any flat frying pan I have on hand to warm them, and it works great!
Could this be used to press pizza dough for thin crust pizza?
Kerry W on Feb 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You probably could try to make personal pizza, but pizza dough usually is very springy. From experience, it seems that the best way to shape it is either to roll it or stretch it.
Can I make whole wheat tortillas?
A shopper on Jan 1, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have made whole wheat tortillas with this and also whole wheat/quinoa flour tortillas. Other ingredients; olive oil, baking soda, steevia, salt.
Where is it made?
A shopper on Dec 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Colombia
What is the covering under the tortilla in the one picture? Looks like plastic or wax paper of some sort?
A shopper on Apr 30, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You put the dough between plastic or wax paper when you press it so it won't stick to the press
