Made from Burgundy clay, each stone is capable of being heated to high temperatures, for light, perfectly crisp crusts and moist, airy interiors. Produced one at a time, each piece of Emile Henry cookware is formed and hand-finished by skilled artisans.

I have had a E Henry baking stone for the oven for a number of years. The glazing really makes a difference in being able to keep it clen. This size is a perfect fit for my toaster oven (mgfr supplied a 13" inch stone which wall to wall) and is just the right size for the cornmeal dough/goat cheese pizza (by Vicolo) which I get at the Sacramento Co-op.

can it be used with frozen pizza, or will that cause it to crack?

BEST ANSWER: I always put the stone in when I turn the oven on, so it is heats gradually as the oven gets to the right temp. Have put frozen pizza on the stone, without any problem. If the is an issue it is to not put a cold stone into a hot oven..
Is it made of "clay from Burgundy" or is it simply "burgundy colored clay"?

BEST ANSWER: It is clay with a burgundy glaze. You can see the gray clay underneath. But if it is capitalized then it could be from France, of that I am unsure. :-)
When reheating pizza why does the bottom not get crisp? I preheat the stone in the oven before putting the pizza on it but the bottom comes out soft not crisp.

BEST ANSWER: I spread crust out on pan and add a small amount of evoo or marinara source on top of crust to keep it from drying out, place in grill and cook for several minutes before I put toppings on and cook completely

BEST ANSWER: It's 10" in diameter, 14" handle to handle & 1" thick.
Are there any other uses for the ten inch pizza stone? Can I use it on top of the stove for something besides pizza?

BEST ANSWER: It can be used for several different foods, but it's not recommended for stovetop use.
