Love it, but . . .
I absolutely love the functions of this multi cooker. All the recipes I’ve tried have turnout perfectly. My only complaint is that the rubber ring around the interior lid has taken on odors from the food. After three uses it smells so strongly that it turns my stomach. I’ve tried soaking it and nothing works.

Disappointed
When my slow cooker died I decided to replace it with a multicooker. I already had a rice cooker and a Fagor pressure cooker, which I love, but thought it would be nice to have one appliance to handle different tasks. I chose Fagor over other brands because I've been so happy with my pressure cooker. Using a multicooker requires more of an adjustment (from a regular pressure cooker) than I had anticipated, but it is nice to not have to monitor the pot while under pressure (no hissing!). A serious disadvantage, though, is ease of cleaning. The channel at the top of the unit, where the lid locks on, catches spills and is difficult to wipe out thoroughly. Also, after only two uses, the silicon gasket absorbed odors (from cooking pulled pork and pot roast) so much that I hesitate to use the multicooker for anthing else. The idea of making yogurt or even rice with that smelly gasket is repulsive. This is even after soaking the gasket in vinegar and baking soda. Hindsight, I should have just gotten a new slow cooker.

WOW Great product
Researched the various brands and decided on this one. Larger than most, so it's right for almost anything I want to make. Love that it has so many settings from yogurt, medium for slow cooking, searing for meat, and pressure cooking. sooo many setting to make many fabulous meals from eggs to desserts.

I will never own another brand of pressure cooker!
I also have the Fagor 6 quart with non stick liner. I love both of them but really love the LCD screen and increased cooking options with my 8quart!

Great purchase
Great machine! The manual is very well written, which is important since this machine has so many different features to learn.

The stainless steel pot is so easy to clean, it's almost nonstick. It takes very little scrubbing to remove stuck-on food.

It even comes with 75 recipes in a color cookbook.

I'm very happy with my purchase.

Already had the 6qt;Took the Pressure Cooking Demystified class to learn how to use it for other that slow cooking and decided that I needed the larger version that does,(the cheesecake you can make in this is really good!) and holds, even more than my original.

The class gave me the confidence and inspiration to expand on what and how I cook. I highly recommend both the appliance and the class!

Customer review of Fagor LUX=LCD Multi-8 quart
I tested the 6 quart model and found it to be too small, since many recipes permit only partial filling of the cooking vessel. The 8 quart model provided adequate finished product for our small family.
Fit, finish and operation were excellent and the unit functioned exactly as advertised.
We used the cookbook VEGAN UNDER PRESSURE by Jill Nussinow to more fully utilize product features. The Lebanese Vegetable Soup was astonishingly bright and lemony, and it only took a few minutes to cook after preparing the ingredients. Must-have-more.

What are the differences between the Fagor LUX LCD and the Instant Pot Ultra?
Lillian P on Aug 8, 2017
Fagor LUX™ LCD Multicooker, 8 qt.
Fagor LUX™ LCD Multicooker, 8 qt.
Instant Pot Ultra
Instant Pot Ultra
BEST ANSWER: it is like asking what the difference between a Ford and a Chevy. Both you mention do the same basic thing, they have some different bells and whistle that you will have to decide between to see which one best fits what you want in a multi-cooker.
How does this differ from the instant pot? I have two of them and love them!
A shopper on Aug 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have never owned an Instant Pot brand but this is my second Fagor (I have the 6qt also) and I absolutely love them. They are high quality, very durable, and extremely user friendly. I have friends who have Instant Pot brands and they are impressed when cooking with my Fagor in comparison. I hope that helps!
Can you can meat in this?
A shopper on Sep 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Electric pressure cookers and multicookers do not maintain 250F degrees meaning they are not safe to can low-acid foods such as meat. Thank you. FAGOR Customer Service
Is the insert stainless steel?
Mala S on Aug 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes and the LCD LUX comes with a steamer basket as well. I love this cooker. I purchased the basic version for my sister and friends and it came with a non stick and I purchased the stainless steel insert. You can likely purchase the non-stick insert for this!
Can you cook a small amount of rice in the pot and steam veggies in the basket at the same time? I do this with a different brand cooker, but the non-stick coating on the pot is peeling off and I am looking for a stainless option. Not having this option would be a deal breaker for me.
A shopper on Oct 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I do it all the time! I have two pressure cookers-one with the non stick liner and one with the stainless steel. We eat a lot of rice dishes so I use it for that and other dishes all the time. I've been so happy with it!
when will the 6 qt be available in stores?
A shopper on Oct 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The 6qt is currently available in store.
Does the outside get very hot?
A shopper on Dec 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I can't say that I actually touched the outside while using it and I always put something under any electrical device to protect the counter top. I will say that I absolutely love this item! I have used it as a pressure cooker and slow cooker. It has been a great purchase!
When will this item in the 8qt be back in stock?
A shopper on May 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We do not have an anticipated date for when this will become available again. You are welcome to sign up for the notification email when it is back in-stock.
Is pitting and discolouring of the stainless steel insert pot common after cooking with a dried thyme spice that was used a corned beef roast recipe?
A shopper on Mar 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Discoloration is going to happen with any stainless cooking vessel but it is usually easily removed with a variety of products or simple steps. Google “restoring stainless steel pans” for some tips. We clean our 8qt stainless steel pot regularly in the dishwasher.
I used it to make the pasta sauce recipe in the book that comes with it. I doubled the recipe. It burned on the bottom. This is not the first recipe that I've had burn on the bottom. Is my cooker defective or does anyone have any suggestions?
Elizabeth C on May 1, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I frequently find burned-looking stuff on the bottom of the cooker. It also happens with recipes from the new America’s Test Kitchen book, which prefers this cooker. But i never get a burned taste. It seems to be just extremely dark fond.
Will this insert work in the LUX LCD model? I just ordered the 8QT LUX LCD and am considering buying this to go with it.

Fagor Lux Multicooker Stainless Steel Insert
Fagor Lux Multicooker Stainless Steel Insert
BEST ANSWER: Amy, the Fagor LUX comes with the stainless steel pot insert. Having a second pot, in my opinion, is a wise purchase. Match the size of the insert with the capacity of your Fagor LUX. Happy cooking.
Where is this cooker made?
A shopper on Aug 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Under "specifications" it says it is made in China.
Does this work in Europe? 220volt
Alan S on Feb 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, this is intended for North American electrical standards.
Does brown rice take longer than white? Everytime I cook brown rice I have to restart it 2-3 times. There doesn't appear to be a way to change the time for the rice setting, so I can just make brown rice for 18 - 24 minutes without monitoring for the 6 minute cycle to be over.
