The smart alternative to disposable sous vide bags.

Description

A must for sous vide cooking enthusiasts, this BPA-free silicone pouch takes the place of disposable vacuum-seal bags, saving money and resources. To sous vide, place your food and seasonings inside the Stasher. Slowly lower the bag into hot water, allowing air to escape a vacuum to form around the contents. Finally, pinch the seal to close and clip the bag to the side of your cooking vessel. The airtight seal locks in nutrients, flavors and juices so you’re sure to get delicious results.

The Stasher can be used for microwave cooking too—just leave the bag open to let steam escape. It’s also useful for storage, replacing traditional one-use bags. Take it to go or use it to store food in the freezer.

Perfect heavy duty no plastic bag
I bought this bag for sous vide as an alternative to the usual plastic bag. It is thick silicon --and that is both an advantage and disadvantage. It is made to be durable, but unlike a thin bag which is easy to get the air out of it takes a bit more work. I saw one technique online in which someone put the bag in an even larger bag with a vacuum pump attachment to evacuate all air, then sealed the Stasher bag while inside the other bag-then took the Stasher out. But I mainly use the water displacement method.
I clean it with dish soap and water using a dishcloth to get to all corners even though some use the dishwasher. I found a simple technique to dry the bag: crinkle 2 paper towels then stuff it inside the bag leaving it open to air. The paper towels will prevent the bag from collapsing while it air dries. (One reviewer complained that the bag got moldy, which of course it will if you leave it wet.)
If you are careful, the seal will let you fully immerse the bag, but I find it easier to just have the top of the bag just out of water.
Highly recommend this bag.

Do not want to cook the food in a zip log bag cuz there might be harmful chemical releases from the plastic. This silicone stash bag is perfect to use for the sou vide.

Does it retain food odors/flavors as with many silicone items?
A shopper on Nov 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I did not have that problem, but am very careful with hand washing the bags using a washcloth to the inside
How do you vacuum-seal it?
A shopper on Nov 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You zip it but leave a small part still open. Carefully immerse it in a bowl or pan of water (not letting the water flow into the opening. As you immerse it, the air from inside the item will automatically push up and out. Once the water reaches the top of the bag, most of the air in the bag will have been displaced. Then, just zip it up the rest of the way. It sounds more difficult than it really is.
How do you clean the silicon bag? Is it easy to clean?
A shopper on Jan 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I just put it in the dishwasher. I stand it up opened with some of the tines of the washer in the opening of the bag. It comes out fine.
