just what i wanted!
I must admit that I haven't used it (them) yet, but am happy with the quality of Silpat. And as always, Sur la Table shipped quickly with a good price for both. Thanks!

Silpat's are the gold standard
Worthwhile purchase, would like to see larger rounds offered for purchase as well. The counter top oven sizes are a great addition if you own a Breville...more please Sur La Table!

Was going to use as a liner for my cake pan but the base of my pan is 8-1/2" - in between sizes. Decided to buy only one 9" and see if it will work size-wise for the Irish soda bread I like to make. Regardless, it will beat breaking out the large Silpat mat for small jobs. I have a very small oven. I am very familiar with Silpat. I bake everything on it. Saves me so much cleanup and cutting parchment paper.

This will keep me from cutting parchment paper circles, that usually look like ovals.

Will this mat work as an induction cooktop protection from pan scratches, spills, etc. ? I have heard that the mats need to be a certain thickness to be used for that purpose.
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the Bosch representative for my induction stove told me this would work.

Can I use this mat on my induction cooktop?
Silpat Round Baking Mat
BEST ANSWER: If you have a sheet or tray or pan that heats up on your induction cooktop, there's no reason you couldn't put the mat in the pan. If the cooktop heats up on it's own (like a griddle) you could use it there. But it won't respond to the induction and heat up on its own...

Does the 8 inch fit into an 8 inch cake round pan perfectly or does it come up the side corners? (Most 8 inch pan inside diameter is slightly less than 8 inches)
BEST ANSWER: I have a "professional" pan that measures 8" on the bottom and it fits perfectly in the pan. I had other cake pans that said 8" but when measuring the bottom of the pan, I found out they were actually about 7 1/2-3/4" so the Silpat did not fit those pans.
Make sure your cake pans are 8" on the bottom or it will fold up on the sides.
Hope this helps.

Will this work as a liner for a pie pan ?
BEST ANSWER: The 9” silpat is a little too big to fit flat in a 10” pie plate. It might work in a larger pan but I don’t have a bigger size. Also one would have to be careful to not cut the liner when slicing the pie.
