Ceramic Skillet great grill tool-but don't ditch you cast iron skillet
I have used this ceramic skillet twice on the grill. Once to grill marinated chicken bone in thighs, and the other to sear a rib eye steak. The skillet was great for the Chicken, but I found as liquids evaporated, it started to char, and stick--so I added a bit of white wine. The steak, was pre-cooked low in the oven, and then I grill to sear both sides in butter and fresh herbs & garlic. I found that the ceramic skillet did not give me the nice sear that my cast iron skillet does. The skillet is also a bit difficult to clean up. The bottom gets blackened char from the grill that does NOT come off, and both times I had to soak the skillet overnight to get all the charred food off. I think this is an ok tool to use when grilling chicken, or fish in enough liquid-such as marinate or wine. Not so great for grilling a steak--in my opinion.

Cracked in 2 on my stovetop
I've had this pan for just over a month. It was used somewhat regularly on my electric stove top. Tonight I was using it to warm up a piece of pita bread and it cracked in 2. It was on pretty low. I turned my back an heard the crack. Disappointed that it didn't last long.

Used twice
I have only used the skillet twice but it did just what I was looking for, worked well on the grill and in the oven.

Lighter with no curing
This skillet replaces my classic cast iron model that needs to be cured regularly. Ceramic is lighter to handle, easier to clean and requires little extra care.

Nice, but too small!
This skillet was advertised as 12" and when I received it looked like it was a 8"". Too small so I returned it.

Bottom not flat
When cooking the pan is not stable on glass top range. Tends to spin when moving food about. Also, not very non-stick but does clean up if allowed to soak with hot sudsy water. Would not recommend.

broke after 2nd use
I would not recommend this product! I used to last night to cook some fish and the oil ended up burning onto the bottom of the skillet. Even after letting it soak for about 2 hours, it still took a lot of strong scrubbing and elbow grease to get it off completely. This morning I went to fry an egg and as it was heating up on medium heat, the pan cracked! This pan is not unusable. I would take the weight of the cast iron skillet any day over this.

Like the concept of easy-to-clean and light weight. I use cast iron pans a lot but they are heavy and difficult to clean afterWards. This product appears to be easier to use and will provide a new and different way to cook foods we enjoy cooking!

Being made of ceramic, how brittle is it and likely to shatter on impact?
A shopper on Jun 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I have had two that just cracked in half during use. No impact, just cracked. The heat was not excessive. Since I have had 2 and they both cracked in the same manner, I believe this is a flaw. I like the product otherwise. It is still usable, just a pain to cook on two halves!
Does this work in conventional electric ovens like cast iron?
A shopper on May 26, 2018
Is it cast iron, coated with ceramic?
A shopper on May 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The bottom of the pan is definitely ceramic. There is a thick coating over the entire pan and I cannot tell what is is exactly. I have not used the pan yet however it feels well made and it is much lighter in weight than my heavy regular cast iron pans .
do you need to season the pan like cast iron?
A shopper on Jun 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No. Not at all.
What is the recipe for the bbq chicken pictured in the catalogue with this skillet?
A shopper on Jun 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This was made using the Tom Douglas BBQ sauce. The name of the recipe is Rub with Love Grilled Chicken.
What is the recipe for the carnitas in the picture? The catalog says it is online, but I cannot find it.
A shopper on May 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The recipe is called, "Pork Carnitas with Pickled Red Onions."
Where would I find recipes that are particularly suited to this pan?
Judith L on Jun 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Any food web site-just google "grilled vegetables" or meats. I marinated chicken in McKormick-herb seasoning for about two hours prior to grilling and then dumped it in the skillet to grill. NOTE-you need to spray both the skillet and grill grids with cooking spray as food tends to stick and burn a bit. Love the skillet - like the grill grids for grilling veggies-however--a bit hard to clean up.
Since this is ceramic, it won't work on an induction stove, will it?
A shopper on May 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No it will not. You’d need a pan with a magnetic material in it to work on induction. This pan is all ceramic.
