THE BEST OF THE BEST
I BOUGHT THIS PAN THINKING IT WOULD IMPROVE MY COOKING SKILLS. I HAD NO IDEA THAT IT WOULD IMPROVE MY WELLBEING AS WELL. LET ME EXPLAIN, YOU SEE WHEN YOU CAN EFFORTLESSLY COMBINE INGREDIENTS INTO YOUR MEALS, YOU BEGIN TO USE WHATEVER IS AT HAND, SO NOTHING GETS WASTED. YOU BECOME SATISFIED WITH THE FACT THAT YOU ARE'NT THROWING OUT PRECIOUS FOOD ITEMS...AND YOU'RE MAKING SIMPLE YET ELEGANT CONCOCTIONS FOR BREAKFAST,,LUNCH AND DINNER...

Beautiful skillet
The skillet is substantial without being heavy. It heats evenly and is ideal for making a pan sauce. The lid makes it even more versatile. The set cleans easily and looks beautiful.

Is this the same as the 12” fry pan with a lid?
Scott T on Dec 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The D5 stainless is not the same as 12" fry pan with lid. D5 is heavier than the 12".
Is the skillet easy to clean and does the food stick?
Barbara S on May 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I think the answer to your question depends somewhat on what you are used to and what you expect. I find it very easy. I will usually presoak a little, swish off food particles, then pop in dish washer. Sometimes I have to scrub it a bit more more before or after the D/W wash, but only when I've really gotten high heat oil spatters on it. For many uses a quick hand wash is all that is needed. As for whether things stick: I have had a friend fry eggs in my pan and she's been frustrated by the sticking. However she is accustomed to a non-stick pan. There is a bit of an an art to frying/sautéing which involves getting the pan preheated and the oil the right temperature. I've never owned a non-stick pan so I've developed the skill. I adore this pan and use it for so many things and types of cooking and it still looks nice on the inside; the exterior has become somewhat stained over time - possibly that could be got off but I'm not concerned enough to work that hard at it. It is important not to wash with abrasive tools to keep the surface smooth. I have a (different) friend who's all-clad collection looks like new and she's had it for years but she's more "OCD" about keeping them that way than I am. BTW, I bought the d5 for my daughter - I personally own an LTD but they are pretty much the same as far as cooking and care goes. This is sort of "professional" grade cookware - a beginner at cooking might find it challenging at first but I like the versatility and the other good qualities and would have trouble finding space for multiple pans for the same purpose. Hope this helps you with deciding. These pans are an "investment"!
Does the skillet clean well and does the food stick?
A shopper on May 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This is not non-stick cookware so some food does stick but it’s not too difficult to clean. I even use it for eggs and it doesn’t take long to clean it, just a little elbow grease. It does take a little getting used to though, you aren’t supposed to soak or air dry this type of cookware so you need to clean it pretty soon after using it. It heats really evenly and I like it a lot, but even after a couple of uses it doesn’t look spotless anymore. It doesn’t bother me though and it is very high quality cookware.
