Love it
Love it! It works beautifully and has replaced all my non-stick traditional pans. I have around 7 of them at this point and the more you use these (and of course take care of them) they more non-stick they become.

It’s a great skillet as you can go from your stove top to the oven. Very durable and unlike non-stick pans they last.

The Best & Baddest
This is the perfect skillet. I am not sure how you can make a skillet any better. We use ours for so many things. Recommend the 'Dutch Baby' for a fun, comforting breakfast. The most important part of owning one of these tanks is to keep it 'seasoned'. After using, I wash mine with soap and warm water and dry it right away. I then apply some oil (I most often use Canola) to a paper towel and rub down the entire skillet. This seams to keep it in great shape. It probably wouldn't hurt to do a full oven seasoning once every couple/few years, but I have not had to go there yet. Highly recommend.

Nothing like Cast Iron
We have several other Lodge skillets and bought this to fill in a size we didn't have There's nothing like cast iron for frying, searing, brazing, etc. And surprise! If kept properly seasoned cast iron is better non stick than "non stick" ( We have a lot of Scan Pan stuff which is great).
Lodge products are World Class and very reasonably priced.

Are the skillet measurements given across the top of the pan, or the bottom?
A shopper on Jul 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The bottom

A shopper on Jun 15, 2012
BEST ANSWER: You can certainly use soap and water with cast iron, and even Lodge recommends it. Just do not use an abrasive cleaner or scrubber (like barkeeper's friend/steel wool.) Also, unless your pan is very well seasoned over many years of use, DO NOT use lemon. Lemon is acidic and will eat through your seasoning. This is the same reason you are told not to cook tomatoes in it unless it has years of built-up seasoning. It doesn't ruin the pan, but it will lose its nonstick surface and you will have to re-season it.
How much does the 15.25 '' skillet weigh?

BEST ANSWER: Lodge Logic offers cookware with the same unparalleled quality, craftsmanship, and superior value characteristic of Lodge–now with a seasoned finish that’s ready to use right out of the box. The weight of the 15.25" skillet is approximately 18.5 pounds. Made in USA
What is the model number of the 10.25" skillet?

Can cast iron be used on an electric glass top range?

I've read that cast iron can crack a glass top range. Answers I've seen regarding the topic are all over the board. Some say yes, others say they don't have any trouble. Then there is talk about enamel vs non-enamel and the enamel melting. And other talk about if the pan is bigger than the heating surface. It has me all confused. I'm wondering if it is due to people just not being careful and placing it down too hard on the glass top. Or does it have something to do with cast iron holding so much heat and a difference in temperatures. Can someone explain it clearly please
A shopper on Feb 11, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I have a smooth top range and use 8"" and 10"" cast iron skillets on it with no problems. I am careful not to drop the skillet or bang it on the stove top. It might depend on the brand of stove too. Mine is a 15 year old Magic Chef
My cast iron skillet has some discoloration in it apparently from letting cornbread set in it too long. I have used extra virgin oil for
seasoning the skillet. How do
I remove the patch that looks like rust? Thank you!
A shopper on Dec 15, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Best go to the Lodge website and see their instructions for care and refurbishing. Use solid Crisco to season or re-season, not a liquid oil, and never use a cooking spray. Note that extra virgin olive oil is mono-unsaturated, which presents its own characteristics, and any olive oil has too low a smoke point to be suitable for seasoning.
I've never owned a cast iron skillet. How easy are they to clean? Does food wipe right off, or will I need to scrub?
A shopper on Oct 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Often food will wipe out, or you can boil water, dump out and wipe with a little oil. But for harder to remove food there are bamboo scrapers, like you use for a wok, or no-scratch plastic srubbies (like ScrubDaddy) that are safe for the iron's patina.
Is this pre-seasoned?
Shanece W on Oct 14, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the cast iron skillets are pre seasoned, but for first few uses you need to use a bit more oil or butter. Then it gets better. Really good instructions will pans.
There appears to be this same pan at Walmart? However it does say the pan was not made in Us? Can you clue me in to which skillet is REAL?
Kathy W on May 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: As per the Lodge website, All of our foundry Seasoned Cast Iron and our Seasoned Carbon Steel products are manufactured in the USA and always will be. All Enameled Cast Iron products are made in China to our strict quality standards and overseen by an American owned 3rd party inspection company. Our accessories come from multiple sources, some of which are American, and some overseas. Our in-house Quality Assurance Department constantly inspects all items we produce and sell."

Hope this helps
After washing, when drying it with a paper towel the towel is slightly black - does this mean it is still dirty? It is a new pan, is that something that should be expected?
Cynthia W on Jul 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Cynthia, yes it is normal. I've owned my pan for over a year, and it has taken me quite a while to get used to it. BTW, so far best cleaning method is kosher salt and a slightly damp paper towel. Then wash it in hot water, no soap needed, but if you must, make sure it's a minimal amount of mild dish soap. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Rub down the pan thoroughly and evenly with a tiny amount of bacon grease, put in hot oven for an hour, let cool. I recommend keeping a tiny jar of bacon grease in the back of your fridge specifically for this purpose. (vegetable oil is not the way to go here). There are a number of good websites to explain the various methods of cleaning and seasoning a cast iron pan. Do your research.
Is there a lid that fits the Lodge 6.5"" cast iron skille
A shopper on Apr 5, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No, there is no lid for this skillet
Why is the handle so embarrassingly small?
A shopper on Dec 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have the green pan. I compared the handled of the large and the small and they are the same length as my kitchen aid skillets that I have from Macy's from years ago. So I have no advise or recommendation for you. I love my green skillets. They are always easy to clean as well. Mary Lou
Do lodge logic skillets have flat or ringed bottoms?
A shopper on Dec 9, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This skillet has a flat bottom.
Can I use cast iron on the BBQ?
A shopper on Jun 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Cast iron was made to be placed directly on hot coals so it will work great on a BBQ.
What's the best oil to use on it ?
Kay S on Mar 17, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I use Avocado oil because of the high smoke point (about 500 degrees), but olive oil is good if you are seasoning the skillet in the oven with the temp about 400 degrees if that’s what you have on hand.

Don’t be scared to just wipe out the skillet with a paper towel after using it versus a hot water rinse!
What is that recipe called?

I was wondering what that peach recipe was that is in the pan. I can't find it anywhere...Thanks

BEST ANSWER: This recipe was actually an adaptation of the blueberry cornbread recipe located at we just substituted the blueberries for the peaches.
How long has Lodge been in business?

Is it easy to fry an egg in this pan without it sticking?
Anisha K on Jan 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yep! We use our cast iron pan to fry eggs just about everyday - and as long as you have a touch of oil in the pan, it's one of the easiest pans to use (and tastes soooooo good -- way better than any other pan we've used). Scrambled eggs can leave behind a little more mess, but we find a 3-5 minute soak in just plain old water usually breaks it all loose.
While re-oiling after hand washing, do I oil the outside as well?
A shopper on Nov 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I don’t. Just love the Lodge cast-iron’s. They’re my favorite skilletEnter an answer to this question.
What's the texture?
A shopper on Dec 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Not smooth like stainless steel but a bit on the rough side. Gets better the better seasoned it is and the more it is used.
I have a glass toprange. Is there any Lodge skillets I can use?
A shopper on Jun 27, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I too have a glass top and I use (GENTLY ) even my 12” skillet. I didn’t realize that there was a warning against them and I have 6 sizes and types. The problem could come from dropping the heaviness on to the glass or scratching from moving it around a lot. Keeping that in mind I do neither... carefully. I use my 12” daily so I just leave it on the top. I have had my glass top for four years and there has been no incident. Hope that helps. Good luck.
Are these skillets smooth on the bottom (no writing) so they can work on a glass top stove?
A shopper on May 24, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I see no reason why they wouldn't work on a smooth top stove but there is writing on the bottom, "Lodge" but it's inset a bit so as not to interfere with the surface top. Enjoy your skillet! I love, love mine, just don't use soap on it and make sure it doesn't sit in water.
How does cast iron respond on an electric range?

Would a different material work better? If yes what is the recommended material?
A shopper on Dec 27, 2012
BEST ANSWER: You will need to account for a small adjustment for the slower response of an electric stove, however the cast iron is going to hold the heat anyway and you probably wouldn't be using it for anything where it's important to make quick changes in heat. An electric burner is going to react significantly more slowly to turning the heat up or down. It's something you will need to adjust to with all your cookware, cast iron or otherwise. It certainly wouldn't do for anything that requires quick reaction to heat changes
Can you use this on (non-induction) glass stovetops?
Jane M on Jun 4, 2018
Lodge Skillet
Lodge Skillet
Lodge Chef Collection Skillet
Lodge Chef Collection Skillet
BEST ANSWER: I have cooked with cast iron cookware on gas, induction, and traditional cooktops. Cast iron is incredibly versatile in this regard; however, if you drag the cookware you will scratch glass cooktops. You must lift and place...not slide.
What is it pre-seasoned with?
A shopper on Feb 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I seasoned mine before I used it and I used coconut oil. The directions suggest seasoning it, so that is what I chose to do.
