Excellent Colander!
I have a small plastic colander that works well for single servings but can't handle a bunch of grapes without tipping or losing some down the drain, never mind a head of lettuce. This 11"" colander is large and lightweight. Well constructed. And very stable. Great staple for any kitchen!!! (Plus it works well for a serving piece or display.

Works well
I like the feet and the fact that it doesn't hold water in the rim when in the dishwasher. Still kind of prefer my mesh strainer as it can be used for smaller items and I usually end up reaching for that one more often.

Great
Looked everywhere for stainless, very hard to find. Bought all 3 sizes and they look great, going to display in kitchen for convenience and design.
Whole order well packed and please with everything

Very Nice Colander
Nice colander.

I was previously using an enamel plated/stainless steel?? colander and although when originally purchased it seemed of good quality, within a year it began to rust near the footing and about one year later one of the handles broke.

Since the Sur La Table colander is all stainless, I anticipate it will not rust and the handles should last as well. They seem very sturdy.

Good purchase

Nice to look at, very very thin metal
Title says it all. While it looks like a solid item, once you pick it up it feels more like thin aluminum or tin. Certainly won't withstand any substantial drops or rough handling.

A classic collander
I love the size of the collander. It is easy to clean, holds a good amount of produce when rinsing, and just has a clean and lovely appearance.

Needed large, steady colander. Would have appreciated having the option of the larger model, but I didn't get a chance to choose the size.

My parents and I have a plastic colander that works fine, but it will melt if accidentally left on the stove like I did once. With a stainless steel colander, I don't have to worry about that.

Can I use to steam veggies in a pan?
A shopper on Feb 24, 2011
BEST ANSWER: This stainless steel colander can be used to steam veggies in a pan. Just make sure you have the right size to rest at the top of the pan you are using so that the veggies are not submersed in the boiling water. The handles are very sturdy and should support the weight of the vegetables.
Is the sur la table stainless steel colander made in the USA?
A shopper on Feb 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, it's made in China.
Is this sturdy in the sink?
A shopper on Aug 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes it's very sturdy, no tipping over or spilling at all. It's actually the best colander I've ever owned, and I highly recommend it. Also it goes through the dishwasher cycle very nicely.
How heavy are these?
Sandra P on Dec 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I don't have the weight of the colander but I can tell you they are not heavy. The colander does not have enough holes on the bottom to properly drain well. Most time when pouring the food from the colander the water drains into the dish.
Can you put this in pan while boiling pasta?
A shopper on Jul 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We would advise against it. Instead, we would recommend using a pasta insert.
??Is it Made in USA?
A shopper on Jun 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes--mine is. But I did not buy this recently.
