Perfect for one cup of coffee
I received the six-cup Bialetti as a gift, and use it for regular coffee, the six-cup size is perfect for a single mug of coffee. This little espresso maker is quick and simple to use, and I find an intangible purity in the ritual of making coffee in a pot, as opposed to the sterility of a K-cup device. It seems just right

Decent espresso maker
If you like a good cup of espresso this does the trick but be aware:
It's made of aluminum and can easily develop stains in the lower chamber if you leave water standing in it.
If you need to make a second pot, you have to wait for it to cool down to avoid burning yourself.
If you have gas burners, make sure the pot fits on the grates. The 3 cup pot might be too small to fit on a gas burner.

The price is right for this espresso maker. I'm just not sure how it will hold up over long term use

Pretty Good Product
I owned a pot like this for about 6 years.

Pros: Makes a decent flavor coffee. Easy to use.

Cons: The rubber seal over time wears out and sticks to the pot making it hard to release it.

If used frequently look to replace the seal often.

Stains easily when coffee is left in it overnight and stains are permanent

The pot is not easy to clean

Dyhard fans...love our Bialetti!
We've had our 6 cup maker for over 6 years, use it everyday... It is a bit stained but we like the ""life"" that brings to it. We bought a 12 cup for when we have guests, works perfect. We do change the gaskets every six /eight months or so. Makes perfect smooth espresso every time ! Taken it traveling and camping. We'll heat and froth milk in a French press and have an exceptional latte every time. Can't say enough how great this set up is. So much cheaper than any other option. Takes up no space and the satisfaction level is wonderful every time. We've also baught a few as gift for family and friends. Also true that 90% of Italian families own and use these! Our trip to Italia visiting friends confirmed this! With our Bialetti espresso latte, it's like sipping a bit of lovely Italy each morning

LOVE OUR BIALETTI!!
We have had our Bialetti for over a year and we LOVE it! In fact we have 2. A 6 cup for the two of us and a 12 cup for entertaining. I have to disagree with those that say it is difficult to clean. Get yourself a stiff bottle brush and you are good to go! Yes, it does get hot. But isn't that how we like our coffee? Make sure you have a pot holder close by to handle this beauty. It is lightweight, compact, travels well and definitely worth the investment!

A Must Have for any Coffee Lover
Just back from Italy and totally forgot how much I loved coffee from a Bialetti. Served at dinner on our trip, it was perfect. Great presentation, intense flavor, could not wait to start making coffee at home this way. I just made my first batch this morning and I am not sure what I love more, how easy it is or how delicious the results are. If you have not used one of these, simply add water in the base, add coffee to the accompanying coffee attachment, screw it together and then put it on the stove, a couple minutes later, done. Easy and intense, wonderful coffee. If you have never had coffee from a Bialetti and you enjoy coffee, you will love it. Guaranteed

life saver
I used this in my tiny NY apt. and it's one of the best no fuss cups of coffee you can make.

Perfect for me
In my household, I am the only coffee drinker and this little maker is perfect for my needs. I agree with the other reviewer, it does get very hot so be sure to use oven mitts

Simple and dependable
My headline says it all. I've had mine for years, and it's easy to use and clean. The only way this could be improved was if the following was fixed: if you open the lid whilst it is brewing, the condensation from the hot steam on the underside of the lid will run to the hinge, which is where you hand is--it leaves an ephemeral ouchie. That said, I would purchase this all over again. And you know when it is done brewing because it will hiss, since most of the water in the bottom portion has boiled, there is not steady stream of flowing any more.

Cool design and works well
Fun, old-school yet modern design. Makes great tasting espresso! Had problems though with some rust spots forming.

To replace one I bought in Europe over 10 years ago. Of all the coffee-making methods I've tried (including a french press and various pour over methods), my little moka pot is not only the easiest, but makes by far the best cup of coffee I'm able to produce at home. I couldn't live without it!

Is this only for espresso making or is it versatile?

I find espresso too strong for my taste. I normally add half n half and Splenda to my coffee. Is this coffee maker only for making espresso? Thanks in advance. :)
A shopper on Dec 6, 2012
BEST ANSWER: I would say you should try this and add a bit of hot water to the final coffee if you like it less strong. It will make and ""americano"" and with water, the best cup of coffee you can make by hand
Can I make a partial pot of espresso?

If I buy a 6 cup pot, can I make 3 cups in it
A shopper on Oct 4, 2013
BEST ANSWER: There is nothing stopping you from putting less coffee in the pot and less water, it will still work just fine. I like the 6 cup because I want more than the 3 cup makes at one time.
How well does it work on a electric range?
A shopper on Feb 27, 2013
BEST ANSWER: This item is suggested for both gas and electric ranges. Several people say it works very well on an electric range.
Which size is best for gas stoves?
A shopper on Sep 19, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Any Moka is fine for the gas stove. Just keep the flame just under the base of the pot.
What size "cup" are they using? A standard 8 oz. or not?
Charles T on Apr 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Espresso cups are about 2 to 3.5 fl oz. I use my 3 cup Bialetti with regular coffee, which produces enough black gold for a nice regular-sized mugful. I'm planning on buying a larger size - the 6 cup - so I can have a second cup. Regular coffee out of a Bialetti tastes great, and I love the ceremony around making it. FWIW, for regular coffee in the 3 cup size, just fill the basket until the coffee is level with the brim. As soon as the water starts boiling, you need immediately remove from the heat before coffee starts spitting out of the spout. BTW I use an electric stove with no problems.
What brands of coffee work best with the Bialetti?

I'm thinking of purchasing this after having a delicious cup of espresso from one of these makers while dining out, but I wonder what kind of coffee I should use to make the most flavorful cup
A shopper on Aug 26, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Espresso roast is going to be ideal in the Bialetti. I would suggest trying some of our Illy coffee espresso roast varities, as they too are Italian
Can this be used on a heat induction stove top?
A shopper on Dec 16, 2014
BEST ANSWER: It is made from aluminum, so it would not work on a heat induction Stove top.
I bought a new one. I have tried it a few times but the water does not come up to brew the coffee. What am I doing wrong?
A shopper on Nov 28, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure if you were able to resolve the issue, but have you checked to see if the funnel is plugged? Also, don't pack it so tightly and use coarse, not fine ground coffee. Hope this helps!
does coffee come out cloudy?
A shopper on Apr 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The coffee can be cloudy depending on what brand and grind you use. Use a premium coffee like Lavarzza and you should have good results. Also, be sure the flame or electric burner is on high so the coffee processes quickly. Make and drink-do not allow to sit around as this will also cause the coffee to cloud! Good luck!
The Boaletti Kitty 6 Cup
Espress Maker & also Bialetti Red Moka Espresso 6 Cup Maker are the handles on these pots plastic or metal?
A shopper on Feb 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The handle on any of the Bialetti makers are made of a hard material that protects you from burning yourself when you grab it to serve coffee. It is an amazing material that doesn't come apart, break or shows any sign of wear and tear ever. I've had mine since college (about 15 years) and it still brand new! All I do is buy a new casket to replace them, that is all. Hope this helps.
is this hand wash only?
A shopper on Sep 19, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I have had a few if these over the past 35 years and I always hand wash. I rinse mine everyday and about every two weeks I give it a good wash with soap. I don't remove the rubber ring unless it needs replacing. I love it!
What size "cup" are you using to determine the size of the espresso pot ? 6 ounces ? 8 ounces ?
A shopper on Apr 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The one I purchased says 6 cups, but the maximum water level fill line in the pot is 9 fluid ounces.
I only add about 8 fluid ounces, or 1 cup of water.
I am alergic to Aluminum. If aluminum is inside of this espresso maker, it is not a healthy choice for people, who want to avoid it. Also, I usually drink coffee that went through a paper filter. It reduces the volatil oils. Is the filter in this device does the same thing? What kind of filter is it?
A shopper on Jun 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I am not sure if the inside has been treated with anything or is just aluminum. It doesn't appear to have been. There is a filter, but it is metal and there is nothing that would eliminate any oils in the coffee. Most people like the oils in coffee, as they enrich the taste. But if you don't, then I don't think this is the pot for you.
What is aluminized steel?
Valerie C on Jan 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Simply stated, the coffee maker is made of steel with an aluminum layer inside and out that allows the pit to look shiny and lovely on the outside and creates a sanItary impermeable coating on the inside that provides a better cup of coffee. I love coffee and prefer the coffee produced by this European variety of coffee pot. If you love expresso, this is the perfect pot to make a very accptable cup.
I currently used a French Press and have been thinking about getting a Bialetti. However, there's the cute octagonal aluminum, and a couple of stainless modern looking styles. How to decide, what are differences?
A shopper on Jan 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It's really up to you, they function the same way. Aluminum can't be put in the dishwasher, only hand wash. You are restricted by size with the stainless versions, I think they only come as 6-cup. And yes, the stainless look more modern, if that's the look you are going for.
The capacities of all these is really small. I can fit the entire contents of a 9-cup into one somewhat large coffee mug, with room for cream/frothed milk, etc. Look at your French Press and figure out how many cups you normally get out of one batch, and purchase the right size for you based on that number.
BTW, it makes wonderful coffee. A different flavor than the French Press, lovely nonetheless.
How can I make a latte using my Bialetti I just bought? I would rather not by a foam/steam machine if I can help it.
A shopper on Jan 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: There are many options to froth your milk. you could get one of the below items i have linked. I personally use the bodum chambord manual milk frother. You could use a blender to froth the milk a shaker cup. you can warm the milk on the stove top if you want steamed milk then froth it. hope this helps.

how big is the 3 cup moka express maker?
A shopper on Nov 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It is big enough to make 2 - 3 shots of espresso. It is a perfect personal size. But to make coffee for a couple or a guest I would have to heat it twice.
Can coffee pods be used in this espresso maker?
maria f on Oct 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No. Only ground coffee. Espresso grind is the best!
Where is this made? I noticed the stainless steel Bialetti says it's made in China. This aluminum one does not state where it's made.
A shopper on Jan 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: On the side it's marked "Made in Italy".
Where does one put the water and where does one put the ground coffee?
A shopper on Apr 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The water goes in the base of the pot. There's a marked line as to where to fill the water up to. You place the basket in and fill it will coffee. Screw the lid on and heat until it brews to the top of the coffee pot.
what are the dimensions of the 3 cup Bialetti?
A shopper on Jan 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: 6 1/4" tall, 3 1/4" base width
When the coffee is moving up to the upper chamber, is it spilling from under the lid onto the stove, assuming the lid is closed?
A shopper on Dec 7, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I have never had any problem with the peculating coffee/espresso come out around the lid when I am brewing it with the lid closed.
However, if you leave the lid open it will.
Why doesn't my pot use all the water?
A shopper on Jul 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I notice that there is variability in the coffee produced and the water used at times. I notice that if i overfill or pack the coffee too tightly the maker uses less water and i get less coffee. it is also advisable to change the rubber gasket at times. When they get old and used, the seal isn't tight enough to create the pressure needed to use all the water
