Far Superior
The black textured enamel finish cooks like raw cast iron developing more fond and therefor richer sauces when the pan is deglazed. The self basting spikes on the inside of the lid help reduce the amount of outside cooking liquid needed! One of the best things to come out of France! Bon Appetite!

Beautiful Pan, Extraordinary Results!
The old adage "you get what you pay for" certainly applies to this wonderful cooking vessel that's worth every penny! Whether slowly simmering spaghetti sauce on top of the stove or low and slow cooking a pot roast in the oven, this pan distributes the heat evenly with superior results. My 4 lb. chuck roast was moist and fork tender baked in the oven at 250 degrees for 4 hours. The gravy was out of this world!

Classic addition to any kitchen!
I splurged on this Staub dutch oven after my last dutch oven's ceramic coating started to chip (a much cheaper dutch oven). Staub is first class all the way, made beautifully! This dutch oven is made to last and worth every penny. I love the finish on the inside. The addition of the rooster handle just tops off the product! Purchase this item and you will not by another brand.

My wife just loves this item!
Since the day we got this pot, my wife is baking the bread in it. We now have the best bread in the world!
Using the "No Knead Dough" method which btw is very simple we have fresh bread with an awesome crust.
Search "No Knead Dough" and you will find tons of recipes !

Excellent quality!
I am so pleased with my Staub Coq au Vin! I was worried about the size and weight with my arthritic hands, but they are so beautifully balanced with the handles I am not having any problems. Very easy to fit in my sink. I have used on stove top and oven. I am so so pleased with the quality and workmanship! I have several pieces and will continue to collect more pieces!

Best pot ever!
Love my new pot and have used it a half dozen times already. Beautiful to serve delicious braised meals and even baked lasagna layering fresh ravioli instead of lasagna noodles. Even made a baked apple/pear/cherry crisp in it.

Sale price, free shipping. I’ve been waiting for a good price, as this is a significant investment. Thought I wanted another Le Creuset (have s smaller size), but reviews comparing to Le Creuset put this slightly higher quality.

Yesterday my expensive french oven's interior completely "popped" off during cooking. So, I wanted to replace it with Staub. Anyway, after looking at the different options, I think this will be the best for what I would like to cook.

Is the lid knob removeable?
A shopper on Feb 17, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Yes it is removable. Staub actually sells multiple knobs that you can switch if you like.
will the 5 3/4 Q staub coq au vin coquette fit a full chicken or turkey for roasting?
A shopper on May 3, 2011
BEST ANSWER: It will fit a chicken, but not a turkey
Is there any difference between the oval cocotte and the coq au vin?
A shopper on Oct 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I did a google search for your question and you will be happy to know that several people have had the same question. From what I read it seems as though what they are called has more to do with the knob and what you would cook in the coq a vin than shape or size. Both are oval and and come in different sizes but the coq a vin has a rooster knob and the cocotte has a plain metal knob and since coq in French means rooster/cock it makes perfect sense. But coq a vin is a chicken dish that would be tasty made in either pot. Hope this helps.
How do you decide which size to buy and whether to get the oval versus round shape?
Virginia E on Jan 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: If you are cooking for four or more people go with the larger size. If you are cooking for yourself and maybe one or two others then the smaller should be fine. Of course most recipe's we cook in the Coq au Vin make for great leftovers - so the larger size allows you cook extra. We liked the oval shape for the simple fact that normal sized poultry fits perfectly and the larger size allows us to add lots of vegetables. This is a beautiful dish and has become a mainstay in our kitchen.
Does this come with a plain knob or the rooster or both?
Sharon W on Dec 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: First, this pot is wonderful. You will pass it on to future generations. My wife abd I use it fir SO many things.
Pot comes with the plain knob. But save your receipt.
Staub includes an offer with the pot.
If you send them proof of purchase over a certain amount, they will send you a custom knob of your choice. I have the rooster on mine and it is just fabulous.

I have a flat ceramic stove top. Is this suitable to use?
juliet l on Jan 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: so long as the pot in question has a flat bottom (Staub does) and one lifts and does not slide, should be ok. Am very pleased with the Staub pot.
How much does the pot weigh?
Robin A on Jul 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The pot with the lid is 14.5lbs. Without the lid it is 9.5lbs.
How much does this 4 1/2 qt pot weigh and what is its dimentions?
joann f on Jul 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The Coq au Vin is quite heavy, it is 6 inches deep, 9 inches wide and 11 1/2 inches long. It is a very nice size and cleans up very easily. Everything you cook in this turns out very juicy and tender!
