Disappointed
I purchased eight sets about a year ago. I was upgrading from flatware that was not as sturdy that I had for many years. I loved the weight and feel of this flatware. I wash the flatware in my dishwasher using a rinse agent and over time it has become spotted with discoloration. It doesn't wash off. I use a rinse agent in the dishwasher and everything else is fine. Also the teaspoon is unusually small.

Love the look and feel, but the knives got spotty quickly
After fifteen years with our old flatware pattern, my wife and I decided it was time for a change. After visiting a local Sur La Table store and comparing the patterns available, we settled on the Grand City pattern. It's hefty but balanced, with a simple, graceful look. (And the regular forks have four tines — I don't hold with three-tined forks.)

There are a couple of problems with the flatware, however:
• One fork had bent tines when we removed it from the box
• One knife in the same box had a twisted blade, as though someone had tried using it to open a jar
• More crucially, from a quality perspective, several of the knives started getting discolored spots on them within a week — maybe it's rust, maybe it's weird pitting, but it's more than one knife. We're treating them the same as we've always treated our knives, and the fifteen-year-old set never discolored this way.

All told, we like the look, but I'm hoping the knives hold up.

Balanced and sleek with many pieces
We love the Grand City style of flatware. The design is weighty, balanced, yet sleek. We have had no issues with washing in the Miele dishwasher. The spreader and cocktail fork are a wonderful addition to a regular table setting and service pieces.

Beautiful Everyday Flatware
I bought the set over a year ago and it has held up very well. We use this everyday with no issues of water spots or marks from the dishwasher. I was looking for a set that had a true teaspoon which this set does. For some reason a US teaspoon is always quite large. Very pleased with this purchase and I imagine it will last many years.

great flatware
After loosing our home to the October wild fires in Santa Rosa, we are putting together our kitchen. This flatware met my husband's desire for strength but was also not too heavy for me to enjoy the dinner fork.

holds up to daily use
Have used this flatware daily for about a year and a half now and it looks as nice as the day it arrived. Holds up in the dishwasher, nice weight, great design

Love these
Love these and always get compliments. They feel solid and great in the hand. I’ve been using these for 5 years now and others than normal little scratches, I’d definitely recommend these.

Dissatisfied customer. I will not recommend this set. Quite expensive to get teasooons that aren't up to the quality I expected.
I was disappointed in the teaspoon. I had purchased two separate teaspoons to get the "feel" of the flatware. When I received my set, the teaspoon that came with the set is a tiny almost demitasse spoon. It does not even hold a measured teaspoon. The teaspoon sold separately is measured at 5 1/2 inches in length and actually holds a full measured teaspoon amount. I'm quite disappointed. It's not an adult sized teaspoon and gets lost in a cup of coffee because it is so small. I'm tempted to return all of the flatware and look elsewhere. I would NOT recommend this set! Also with this purchase came appetizer forks, the teaspoon is smaller I length than the appetizer forks.

What is included in the Fortessa Grand City set of 25 @ $139.95?
aristacosmo on Jul 10, 2014
BEST ANSWER: You will get 5 of the 5 piece sets. The 5-piece setting includes a small spoon, large spoon, small fork, large fork and knife
Is this 18/10 stainless or what is the rating?
A shopper on Nov 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the Grand City Fortessa flatware is made of 18/10 stainless steel.
Description says is it "comes with four free appetizer forks" can anyone confirm this?
A shopper on Feb 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it does come with appetizer forks! My Fortessa silverware is amazing. I am thinking about adding more pieces to it. The flatware feels great to the touch, not too heavy, sleek and classic lines. The best set I was ever able to find. You should absolutely get them for yourself !!!!
Is the knife in this set serrated?
A shopper on May 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes. It has the soft serrations on the edge consistent with a dinner knife.
It's not, however, a steak knife. We have a set of those by Henckels.
Can I buy individual tablespoons?
Caitlin T on Jan 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Not as far as I know. The boullion spoons, which are the soup spoons are sold separately but not the tablespoons. Grand City is by far the most extensive design SLT has with a lot of add ons the other designs don't have. I've done some research and I have not been able to find the tablespoon sold as an individual item anywhere.
The description says "come with four free appetizer forks" can anyone confirm this?
Gilgo on Feb 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the set included appetizer forks - haven't had much use for them, but I did purchase the steak knives separately which have been a great addition to the set
Is the Fortessa Grand teaspoon (item #822296)the same size or larger than the smallest spoon of the 5 piece place setting?
A shopper on Jan 11, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The individually sold teaspoon is the same size as the teaspoon sold in the set.
