This is my go to kitchen acessory. I use it all the time. I love to bake & this mixer makes it sooo much faster & easier to mix all my fun baking goods =)
I've had a KitchenAid stand mixer for 35 years [purchased new ones just to change the color] but they all still work! This one was purchased as a gift for my daughter as a wedding gift.
Thanks for your excellent help with this order and having it sent to the store--this was very helpful and convenient for me since we were traveling around the time it shipped. This was a 16 year birthday gift for my daughter who has taken a big interest in baking and cooking. She LOVES her new Kitchenaide stand mixer!! Thanks!
This is my 2nd Kitchenaid after my first worked hard for 25 yrs making many baked goods and the mixing the dough for the annual 6-7 batches of Christmas Gingerbread cookies. The best appliance for the job and makes the baking fun and fast.
I love my KitchenAid Artisan mixer. It has been reliable for the past dozen years. I just sent one to a niece as a wedding gift, hoping it lasts her a long time too.
I bought this Artisan® Series 5 Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer via Everything Kitchens about 3 months ago on November 26, 2016 for my wife who loves to bake. We were very excited to use it, since this is our first KitchenAid mixer ever. We used it in late December to make tiramisu and to make cookies and it worked fine. Today (February 11, 2017) we used it to make dough for bread (used 3 cups of flour for our recipes) and the bowl did not stay locked in place. So I thought maybe my wife did not lock the bowl in place all the way. But I found out that if I try to lock the bowl in place it will not lock but it will go loose and come out of the other side of the lock base. After we put the ingredients in and turned the mixer on, it started off okay, but then the bowl would begin to jump and get out of the lock. It seem to me that no one inspected this mixer and that the bowl base was not made correctly to fit the lock base. This machine did not meet my expectation and I am very disappointed with this KitchenAid Mixer. I will be asking KitchenAid for a replacement on Monday.
My husband bought me this for my birthday, and I haven't stopped using it. This thing rocks! Makes baking so much easier by easily mixing all my ingredients and my hands are free to do everything else needed. Mixes so evenly and easily I just love it. Even tried merengue for the first time and it turned out perfectly!!! Love this!
This is about a replacement mixer that I received for one that had a flaw. I became upset with the company because of the amount of time it took to get it here; 9 days! I've become so used to using it, I was frustrated when I couldn't do all of the things that this mixer allows me to do; so many things I was not able to do before I got it. Like grind my own meat for hamburgers, meatballs, sausage, and kielbosi. Make my own fresh pasta. And then there's the baking! Cakes and pies and breads and buns. It makes holiday worthy mashed potatoes, better than delivery or take-out pizzas, and wonderful chicken pot pies. It's so versatile and easy to use. It's a great addition to my kitchen.
I have wanted a KitchenAid mixer for years. Now that I have one, it has been nothing less than the perfection I expected. It would be nice if there was a cord keeper on the back. The only real disheartening thing is that the attachments are quite pricey.
Can't complain too much, because my mixer was a gift, but I would not have purchased the tilt-head version. It's a bit chinsy. It's not all that practical for adding ingredients or getting a spoon in the bowl. Getting the bowl out of the twist lock is super ridiculous and very poorly designed. The bowl gets stuck, especially the glass bowl with its cheesy plastic locking mechanism. A bowl lift version makes much more sense. Overall, I wish I'd returned it and ponied up the extra for the better mixer.
I have had my Artisan mixer about 5-6 years. My paddle and dough hook attachments are cracking at the attachment base and also the bottom - the enamel is starting to chip away. Really frustrating, as my mom has had her KitchenAid for like 25 years and has needed no replacement parts!! Also, the bowl is quite small. With quite a few recipes, the dough or whatever it is flows up and over the attachment. I wish I got the larger, more professional model with stainless steel attachments. Hoping their is a recall for attachments that shed plastic into my food.
My mother-in-law gave me her old white stand mixer that she had forever when she moved into a retirement home. I loved that thing and used it all the time. I finally talked my husband into buying me a new one mainly for the color since I use it so much that it sits out on the counter. I love the color that I got but am disappointed with the way it works. The head bounces up & down every time I use it even in the locked position and doesn't mix the bottom of the bowl. It's so frustrating! My husband has adjusted it many times but still no luck! I guess they just aren't made like they use to be.
I had a 4 1/2 qt. Kitchenaid mixer that served me well for many years. When it came time to replace it, I decided to go with a 5 qt. Artisan. I am so, so disappointed with it!. I never had an issue when mixing bread dough in my old mixer, but this new one practically comes to a standstill when the dough gets a little heavy. With my first Kitchenaid mixer, I always knew when enough flour was incorporated into the dough, but the new mixer does not mix it in well enough so I have to end up mixing the last cup or so by hand which defeats the whole purpose of having this larger mixer. It appears the quality of these newer mixers has dropped considerably.
I received this mixer for Christmas. It has a stainless steel bowl. First time I used it, my cake batter turned gray. And the second time, and the third time. I washed very well in-between uses. I called customer service and was advised to wash using a salt/lemon juice mixture or baking soda mixture. The gray color residue was attributed to polish on the inside of the bowl that was used by the manufacturer. Even after washing by those recommended methods, when I cleaned again with liquid soap and water on a white paper towel, the paper towel turns gray. \Finally had to use Bar Keepers Friend (also a recommended method) on a scrubbie. After four more scrubbings and cleanings, my white paper towel no longer turned gray. I am now hesitant to use the wire beater that came with the mixer for fear that it too has the same polish problem.
This mixer works perfectly! It is a great value for the price. I never enjoyed baking before because I always just used a hand mixer. What was I thinking!?! 10 speed levels, expansion options for things like making juice, pasta, grind meat (full disclosure..haven't tried that yet).
Kitchenaid really has the best stand mixer. It has great power, great capacity. It's a little noisy when on the highest setting, but that's to be expected. Super easy to use. Really just a great purchase overall.
I love this machine. I have yet to try all the functions, and still have to buy some attachments, but the mixer itself is amazing! My only complaint is that the bowl was too clean for me to lick!
I made peanut butter cookies in literally seconds, and clean up was way too easy. I am excited to try shredded meat (pork, chicken, beef), pasta dough, and bread! Basically anything I hate doing by hand.
I received it as a gift, and it is probably one of the best investments ever. I am so in love with the color and the look of the mixer. With the fact that it is aesthetically pleasing, it is FUN, SIMPLE, AND FAST to use. Everything cleans up easily so quick changes (and making multiple courses) become a breeze!!! This is the best addition to any kitchen, even the less experienced ones!!!!!
I bought this in November 2016. I used it for the holidays and was very pleased of how well it performed making the holiday feast much much faster and easier.
I got the Artisan series for my birthday. I've used it once up to this point and it worked perfectly. I intent to make French bread soon and will put it thru the test. I expect it to work wonderfully.
I go this as a gift from my husband and I love my new kitchen aide mixer and and how easy it is to change attachments. It is well worth the money and I am looking forward to get many years of use out of it. I would definitely recommend getting one to my friends and family.
I received my KitchenAid stand mixer for Christmas and I love it. It takes all the elbow grease out of all my baking processes. No more sweat and work... Just tears of joy as I watch the magic of the KitchenAid.
I owned a Kitchenaid Classic Plus 4.5 quart mixer for several years. It was an awesome mixer that I enhanced with several of the attachments, most recently of which was the spiralizer. I decided to upgrade and started looking at the Kitchenaid Artisan Series mixers. I knew I'd get a great machine, powerful, versatile, easy to use. The problem was deciding on the color! So many choices....I originally bought the champagne colored one, which was beautiful. But it did not 'speak to me'. My son advised me that I should get the color that would make me happy in the long term. So I ordered the Silver Metallic and fell in love when I opened the box! Two batches of cookies and a batch of popovers later, I can speak to the power of this mixer. Can't wait to use it again! A lucky friend has inherited my Classic Plus. I've been told that homemade bread is forthcoming! Yum!
The Kitchenaid mixer is a staple appliance for any kitchen
The 5 at mixer was a wedding gift. They love it and use is almost everyday. The newly weds have been able to go to Sur La Table and buy several other attachments.
I love to bake, but never wanted to spend the money on a mixer. I was also concerned about the space it would take up on my counter. Because it is getting harder for me to mix dough, I finally decided I needed to buy a stand mixer or quit making cookies. My husband voted for his cookies! I've only had the mixer for a few weeks and I love it. It fits perfectly in a corner of my counter, and doesn't even look too big. I cannot believe I didn't get one years ago....
As an inspiring baker, and lover of creativity in the kitchen, I have always wanted a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer. When I received my Artisan Mixer over this passed holiday season, I have done nothing but put it to work! Very easy to operate and not to mention, very stylish, it's been a classic addition to my countertop.
I bought mine about a month ago and I am in love. Makes baking and cooking so much more easier! No more hand mixing whipped cream, or hand kneading bread/noodles. I have already use this in so many ways!
It's quiet, powerful, sturdy and looks good. The only thing I wish I could do with it is small batches. Not sure if there's a glass bowl and paddles to go with it, though.
We had the basic model and after 10 years of use decided it wanted a permanent vacation so into the recycle bin it went and ordered a more powerful one. What a difference it makes. The only draw back is the older one had a FULL SPLASH GUARD and the new one is not even called that plus it has not only the spout to pour into the bowl but an opening on the side so flour and stuff can SPLASH OUT messing up everything.
They truly need a full covered splash guard or as they call it pouring spout.
Other than that we love this new one and the verity of colors offered, OH VEY!
This was the year I was going to buy one of these mixers and I got it as a gift! Whoo hoo. It's so easy and sturdy and pretty. I have been using an old hand mixer for years! Don't wait get it today!
I've been looking for one for a long time. Finally, I received one for my birthday from my mom and I love it!!! Very powerful yet quiet. Easy to use and to clean. No doubt this is a mixer that will last me forever!
Growing up and watching my mother bake, I always dreamed of one day owning my own KitchenAid Stand Mixer. Now I finally have one and it's never leaving my countertop. Not only does it work well, but its my favorite color.
Treated myself to a new Kitchenaid because I wanted a larger bowl than mixer of decades ago. Love the mixer, works as it should, not noisy, good performance. Attachments and bowl another story. Not made in US and on my 2rd bowl, and 2nd whip and 3rd paddle. Bowl rim rusted, paddle chipped in 3 places, and then replacement didn't fit, wire whip coating came off on your fingers. Called Kitchenaid, meh, with standard pat answers. Giving the mixer a 4 though, because of performance and several attachments (pasta/spiralizer) also perform.
I don't really like the mixer. I have to constantly stop mixing to scrape the sides, and even with the additional paddle with sides made for scraping, I still need to do that. Additionally, I don't seem to be able to get heavy whipping cream as stiff as I could by hand.
I've only had it for a little over a month and have made several cheesecakes and mousse toppings, and one batch of cookies. Maybe it's just something I need to get used to, but I think I preferred the control you get with a hand mixer.
We used one in cooking class and I decided to buy one after using it. I've thought about buying one for years, but after using one in class I had to buy one. I love the Empire Red
My current KitchenAid Stand Mixer is over 20 years old, and while it’s still working, I decided that it was time to get a new one as I head into heavy duty holiday baking!!
friend bought this for us as wedding gift. we are just exchanging for colors. store associate instructed us to purchase online via store computer after item return.

I've wanted this mixer for a long time now. The funny thing is I can't make up my mind what color to get it in. It's between the Empire Red, black or one of the grey shades. Any factors someone should consider when choosing a color?

BEST ANSWER:Decide whether you want it blend in, not be obvious, pop, or complement your kitchen, it it's going to sit out on the counter. The artisan comes in a plethora of colors other than red, black or gray. Also, look at the candy apple red as it's gorgeous, at least my friends and I think so. The pro line mixer is amazing, (I have one and it's my favorite) something to think about.

What is the difference between the 6500 Series Stand Mixer and the Artisan Stand Mixer? There is a $200 difference and I am wondering why I would want to splurge on the 6500 Series versus the standard Artisan one?

KitchenAid® Artisan Stand Mixer, 5 qt.
KitchenAid® 6500 Series Stand Mixer, 6 qt.
BEST ANSWER:Great question, it depends greatly on the jobs that you are going to ask the machine to do. If you are making double batches of cookies, large amounts of bread dough...you would want to consider the larger 6500. It has a bigger bowl and a more powerful motor. The 6500 also has the lift/lower feature for the bowl versus the tilting head on the Artisan. Hope that helps. Either way, you will own your KitchenAid for the rest of your life.

The 6500 series has a much greater capacity for production and also offers an entire horsepower for the motor than the original artisan stand mixer. If you plan on using it a lot and are worried about burning out the motor and making bigger batches, then I would recommend going with the 6500 series.
To be quite honest, I am not really sure other than one is a 6 quart glass bowl versus a 5 quart metal bowl and also the way they lift bowl. One lifts the bowl and the other lifts the head up
BEST ANSWER:Yes. I have the pasta one and use it all the time. I am ordering the foid processor and the noodle extruder. No limitations as to what this mixer can do!!!

Should I buy a larger mixer? What would the advantages be of a larger one?

BEST ANSWER:I have a 6 qt mixer and I find that it is too big to mix regular recipes properly, so I end up using a hand mixer instead most of the time. I'm thinking of downgrading to the smaller 5 qt mixer.

My KitchenAid is useful because of its size. It is amazing for the simplest things like whipping egg whites but it really shows its muscle for heavier batter kind of items. The sort of dense mixes that would burn up a lighter weight mixer. I do have one of those too, but I love my KitchenAid for how quickly and thoroughly it mixes up the heavier batters. Finally, I love the attachments. The one I've used and like is the meat grinder. Great way to use up roast leftovers of any kind from pork to beef to chicken.
I've used the artisan, the 575 6 qt, and the pro 1.3 hp, and I definitely prefer the pro line. It's quieter, faster and doesn't heat up or bog down when making a decent amount of dough. it also has more planetary points making it more efficient when whipping. I have both the 575 and 1.3, which I use depending upon what I'm going to make.
Not sure what you would need a larger mixer for. I have made dough for a dozen bagels, 2 loafs of bread, a cheesecake mix and plenty more in my 5 qt. and there was plenty of room. Unless you plan on making very large quantities of any recipe the 5 qt. should work.
BEST ANSWER:Yes, but be careful how much dough is in the machine. I made cinnamon roll dough, and the had to hold the bowl in place and lock the machine. It works fine with pizza dough, but when you have a dough with 4+ cups of flour, you may have to finish kneading the dough yourself.

Does anyone know if the KA 5 qt. stand white paddle beater been discontinued? no seems to carry it anymore; only the side swipe. I am hoping KA has remade it to not chip before re entering it into the market. How ever, I still need to have one even though it is the 5th time as previously one have scrapped paint off the bottom, which many people complain about. I use my mixer at least once a week and make bread and the side swipe does a fine job with cake but not bread (before changing to dough hook). All the cooking stores have discontinued this item for a reason.
BEST ANSWER:No, I use it all the time for single recipes and actually don't know what I did before i had it just using a hand mixer. It is actually the right size for any single cookie, cake, quick bread. I would probably not make more than a double recipe in it.

No, not at all. I've whipped eggs whites of just two eggs in this with no problem. It really gets to the bottom of the bowl and all sides very well. I'm usually just going one recipe at a time.
Not at all. I prefer the whisk beater for recipes with small volumes of ingredients The planetary motion of the beaters catching everything in the mixing bowl.
WHAT ARE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF THE WHITE BEATER AND THE BURNISHED BEATER THAT COME WITH THE ARTISAN MIXERS?

BEST ANSWER:White beater is meant for basic cake mixes and basic mixing. The silver beater that has many prongs and looks like a standard risk is meant for whisking. Like making meringue out of egg whites. The white one can also be purchased with a rubber edge that helps scrape the sides of the bowl like a spatula. It's great.

BEST ANSWER:No, not really. You'd want to use a food processor for a task like that. The KitchenAid does have a grinder attachment which you could use to perhaps make an almond flour, let's say but if you're just looking to chop up some walnuts or something, a small food processor will do the trick.
