Poor material for mixing blade...have to pay to replace
I bought my second mixer for my beach home. I bought a less expensive model KSM95. The blade is not coated white but is metal. The blade was only hand washed as instructed. However, within one year, the blade was leaving an unsightly residue discoloring light colored recipes and leaving gray/black on your hands and dish cloth. Because I can't find my receipt Kitchen Aid is required that I pay for a white coated blade. Manufacturers defect and Kitchen aid should stand behind their product

Chipping paint
The paint has been chipping for a while, but now it is chipping more and more. I've had it fall in my batter! It looks like others on here have replaced theirs several times and had the same problems. Such an expensive product should have quality parts!

I have had my Kitchen Aid mixer for 36 years. The paint began peeling from the original beater so it was time to replace it. The new one works great. Love my Kitchen Aid!

Painted beater
I love my kitchen aid mixer but the problem with the painted beater is on going. I have replaced it twice and now i have to replace it again. The paint chipping off needs to be addressed by Kitchen Aid for this mixer.

This product works like a dream
I got this mixer as a hand-me-down about 10 years ago. Prior to that it was my folks for at least 15 years. Best mixer I've ever owned. This is the first time I'm changing out the mixer paddle. It has been over used and worn out the paint. Even talked my sisters into buying one.

Best product ever
I think the kitchen aid mixer is one of the best inventions ever made. I haven't tried any of the add ons like the pasta maker but dying to try it. This mixer is great for multi-tasking in the kitchen, no need to babysit. Also great not just for baked goods but shredded chicken/pork and dips.

mine didn't chip until.. try adjusting the beater's height?
I've used my coated flat beater, literally, for 36 years before it chipped. That's 36 years of constant use, several times a week, efficiently scraping the lower curves of the bowl. However, I've recently moved from San Diego to Oregon, and when I put by mixer back together, I didn't realize the height or tilt adjustment was off.. it was hitting the bottom. Eventually did chip. So, for those of you concerned about purchasing this attachment due to the other reviews.. perhaps double-checking the beater height (i.e., the mixer head tilt adjustment) before first use would preclude the chipping issue.

BEST ANSWER: If you have a 6qt, lift bowl (not tilt head) type mixer this will fit. I contacted Kitchen aid and was told if I have a mixer from my great grandmother to my mother all attachments will fit as long as it's the same type i.e) size. 6qt. Found a way to make it work from another website
How Attachments Work
When you look at the front of your KitchenAid stand mixer, you'll see a cylindrical protrusion with an adjustment screw and cap. All KitchenAid stand mixers have the same hub drive, enabling you to use any attachment on any KitchenAid mixer. To secure an attachment, loosen the thumbscrew and remove the hub drive cover. Insert the attachment, rotating as needed until it locks into place. Tighten the thumbscrew.

Will this fit Model K5SS?
Thomas C on Mar 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: First answer is I don't know. Second answer is I think it fits all home mixers. I actually bought it for my daughter who ruined the first one by washing it in the dishwasher. These perform beautifully if you treat them kindly.
I have a large stand mixer model K5SS and the paddle has begun to peel off, showing metal below. Which replacement paddle do I buy?
Susan F on Jan 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Go to Amazon and search for your size. I have the 4.5 qt and those paddles are hard to find but I found them on Amazon.
Are the measurements listed really correct at 7 inches long? The flat beater on my K45 has been difficult to remove for some reason and this beater appears to be the correct replacement except that mine is only 6 inches long.
Marilyn M on Apr 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This measurement is directly from the Sur La Table online website: 7½" x 4½" x 4¾, and is WRONG for the replacement flat beater. Whoever measured this beater needs a lesson in basic math. I ordered this beater, it measured 6" long by 5-3/8" wide. It fits and works perfectly in my KSM90.
Is this the correct beater for a K5SS Kitchen Aid mixer?
A shopper on Jul 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, it won't fit. Get the 5-Qt. Bowl-Lift Coated Flat Beater from the kitchen aid web site.
Which flat beater fits a Kitchen Aid Professional 5 bowl lift mixer?
A shopper on Dec 9, 2013
BEST ANSWER: You will need the KitchenAid® 5-Qt. Bowl-Lift Coated Flat Beater.
