Excellent for 95% of knives
I have used these guards to protect my knives for at least five years. I have found them to be easy to slip on/off while still holding firm through travels of my knife roll. However, when I switched to a Kramer as my primary chefs knife, I found that it doesn't cover the top 0.5 inch of the knife. That's not the most important part of the knife and inside of my knife roll, there is little danger of damage to that half inch... but I still wish it was covered.
This is still a five star product, and I am still happy to use them... this is a really small quibble

Great Knife guard
This is a great plastic knife guard, I highly recommend this.
I would suggest checking to see if the guard will fit your knife. I have a 6 inch chef's knife and because of the way the way the knife is shaped it does not quite fit properly, but still does the job well

Great for Santoku
Purchased two of these. One in red and one black. Was worried about plastic being thin but not now. Good quality and fits 7 and 8 inch knives well. Really like to angled cut at the handle. Safe to keep in scraper, too. Would highly recommend.

Safety First
I just bought a new very sharp knife. For me it is important not only to keep my knives sharp, but to also not to have exposed knife blades in my knife drawer for safety reasons. The fit is exact.

space saving, protective for human hands & knife blades!
These blade guards are great! I'll admit I was a bit skeptical at first, thinking they would be too thin to be effective...but wrong, wrong. They keep my expensive cooking knives safe enough to stash in a drawer while protecting both probing hands and blade sharpness. Nice price too. What a great idea.
I've since bought 4 more to give as gifts.

Will they fit a 4.5 inch steak knife
My steak knives have a blade that is 4.5 inches long. I 4 inch edge-guard will not work. A 6-inch edge-guard will be too long.

BEST ANSWER: If the 4"" is too short and the 6"" is too long, I don't think any of these would properly fit your 4 1/2"" steak knife

WHAT SIZE COVER DO I NEED FOR THE 6 INCH VICTORINOX KNOVE?
BEST ANSWER: I see there are several 6" Victorinox knives. These blade guards are made for straight blade knives. So if the blade of your knife is curved, the guards won't work. You will need to measure the height of your blade as well, since there is a 1" and 2" blade guard. I purchased a guard for my Wusthof Chef's knife. It had a 8" straight blade that measured 1 1/2", so I purchased the 2" x 8" guard.

I have 2 knifes I need to sheath both are wusthof classics: 8" chefs knife and a 6" cleaver. Will any of the edge-guards work for me?
BEST ANSWER: The 2x8 would cover your Chef's knife & the 6x1 or 6x2 would cover the edge of your cleaver, but none of them would completely cover that knife.

How do I clean the plastic knife covers? Are they dish washer safe?
BEST ANSWER: Haven't felt the need to do anything other than swish in hot water since knives are clean coming out and going into cover. I would be hesitant to put in dishwasher for fear of water pressure blowing the cover out of the basket.

I have purchased a 5" Wusthof spreader and I need a cover as spreader is very sharp. Are these covers wide enough for a spreader blade?
BEST ANSWER: The covers come in widths of 1" and 2". You would need to measure the spreader at the widest point to determine the width of the blade. Then you would know if they are wide enough.

will it fit a 5in and 7in santuko
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it will fit a santuko. Do know that there are smaller sizes that will work better for the 5inch. Please also know that depending on the height of the blade, there may be some small portion of the spine of the knife that is not covered
