Great kitchen addition for Tofu Eaters
Much better than piling dishes onto my tofu to press it.

I have been using it for 6 months, and find myself eating more tofu now than ever.

It really works to improve the texture

No More Wasted Paper Towels!!!
Finally, no more wasted paper towels, and topsy-turvy stacked cans! Put it in the fridge before work, and it is ready to go when you get home. Yes, it requires a little planning ahead, but so much less waste and mess

My new favorite kitchen gadget!
If you are a tofu lover, this is a must have that will make cooking with tofu so much easier. Received this as a gift, and I was initially skeptical, but it is so much better than wasting a roll of paper towels trying to soak up all the water. Works easily in a short period of time, although pressing for more than a few hours really makes the tofu super dense and perfect for stir frying and adding to your favorite recipes. I love it, use it frequently and recommend it to anyone who cooks with tofu more than a few times a week. Pricey, but well worth it.

Way more useful than I expected!
My husband and I like roasted tofu and the key to getting it super roasty is getting the tofu as dry as you possibly can. I pondered tofu presses for a while but really didn't think they would work. I finally decided to try this one and I'm so glad I did! It's so easy to use and it really does press out a lot of water without having to deal with a ton of wet paper towels. We also figured out the absolute best method for roasting is to cut the tofu into slices, and put in a ziploc and freeze. When you're ready to use, put it in the fridge to thaw, then put it in the press. But even if you don't do the whole freezing thing, this press does an excellent job with basically no effort on your part. I love this thing!

I'm a believer
It's a rare thing for me to write a review about anything. I just don't do it. But in this particular case, I am compelled to say the TofuXpress is everything it was purported to be, and more. I have always been envious of those people who are veritable tofu artists in the kitchen. I love tofu, and there are so many excellent recipes online. But the painful process of putting tofu between paper towels, and then putting stacks of encyclopedias on top to press out the water, was just so frustrating and inadequate.

The TofuXpress is one of the most brilliantly simple and solidly constructed devices I've ever had the pleasure of using. Here I am, nearly 58 years old, and I eat tofu almost every day. I cannot think of very many products that I would endorse as heartily as I would the TofuXpress. It is worth 10 times what I paid for it.

Years of Dependable Service
My boyfriend bought me one of these 6 years ago, and I've been using it at least a couple of times a week since then. The plastic is hard and sturdy and the spring is heavy duty. I would probably never eat tofu if I had to press it the old-fashioned way just because of what a pain it is. This thing is the real deal!

How did I live without this?
No more wasted paper towel/mess! Even though I had started purchasing extra firm tofu it never came out quite the same as when I ate it out at salad bars/restaurants. I don't have room for alot of gadgets in my kitchen - but the tofu press is an essential. Only didnt give 5 stars because it is pricey and because I feel I'll need to handle it carefully so as not to break it (the tabs are a little fidgety)

I am enjoying using the Tofu Xpress! I broke down and bought it after a disaster in the kitchen with the apple cider vinegar bottle falling on the floor while trying to press tofu. Greatest invention EVER!!!!!

best investment in tofu
This product is the best one-use tool in my kitchen. The old way of pressing did practically nothing, while being super-inconvenient. This is so simple--put the tofu in, put it back in the refrigerator until you're ready to make dinner--could be earlier in the afternoon, or the night before, or even a couple days before. Makes the tofu behave much much better, especially if frying.

Worth it
I know it's pricey but not running thru miles of paper towels is worth it. And it gets the water out so much better and faster! If you are a regular tofu eater, highly recommend. Keep in mind, I have not had it for a great length of time, so I cannot attest to how long the spring mechanism lasts but it looks sturdy. So far, very happy.

I really think this product is a good alternative to buying packaged tofu and convenient enough to make me want to use it to make tofu as opposed to using household items to make it.

I love that this tofu press holds the liquid, keeping the tofu moist and fresh, but easily spills out when you are ready to use. It also comes with a lid so that you can press the tofu, but store to use later. I've had mine for a couple of years, so it is very durable and worth the price.

already have one and find it is always in use so need to pick up a second. great way to press tofu and not have to deal with towels (paper or otherwise). Love that the 'bottom' converts to lid for fridge storage once pressed and cooked. . . . only wish you carried the Light Tension Spring version for the softer tofu's but pricewise still went with this one even for my second one

Daughter has one and I like how it works pressing the water out of the tofu, contains the water so no more wasting paper towels.
Claire J on Oct 4, 2018
Bought one for myself a few weeks ago and have absolutely loved it so I'm back to buy one for my parents. I tested initially by putting a block of firm tofu in and leaving it for a few days. When we pulled it out, the water all drained off no problem and the block of tofu was ready to use. We air fry a lot of tofu and now can easily have tofu drained and ready to go any time. I've read that if you get the water out of tofu, then freeze it, you get more of a "meaty" texture so can't wait to try
Tamara T on Sep 21, 2018

I loved this product so much, I took it with us to our family cabin. Had to order another one as forgot to bring it home. It works really well, better than others as constantly extracting the water until you stop using it. I find that I can boost the protein in any meal by adding some tofu that has been pressed, as it stays together better and doesn't fall apart to mush. I also like to add it to take out I get, like hot and sour soup, stir frys, etc., increase protein content of the meal.

BPA FREE?
A shopper on Jan 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The box does not say BPA free, but I think it said food grade on the Tofu Express website Q&A section. It is made in the U.S.
Where does it drain?
A shopper on Apr 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The water rises to the top and you pour it out. I couldn't imagine how it could work before I bought it,but it does work very well. I like that the bottom is also a container with a lid for storing leftover tofu, or for marinating the tofu. So much easier than books, paper towels and plates for pressing tofu. Make sure you press down the top evenly with both hands while twisting to avoid breaking the tabs that hold the pressure plate. Very easy to use.
Does it ever break the tofu?
Andrea F on Feb 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It looks like they have changed the design from the one I bought, so I can't speak for this generation, but the one I have does not break the tofu when I start out with firm or extra firm tofu. This generation looks like an even better design, so I don't imagine that this one would either.
I do a lot of food prep and would like to be able to press about four or five blocks of tofu to prep for cooking in the same day. Would this product allow me to press one block after another, each taking a few minutes time? Or is there space for pressing more than one block at a time? Or do I just need to plan ahead and press a block at a time, allowing each block a good amount of time, one after another (and maybe taking a few hours that way before I can bake or cook with the tofu)?
A shopper on Nov 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The container only holds one block of 14-15 oz. tofu. I haven't measured the exact time to that it takes to press tofu to the point of no more removable moisture, but it takes over an hour at room temp. Note that I pour off the liquid periodically during this time.
If I try to hurry the process by pushing on the flat lid under the spring, the tofu starts to separate at the edges.
If you need to press multiple blocks, you might try sandwiching the tofu between two sheet pans and put weights (bricks?) spaced on top. You'll get a lot of liquid, so place the assembly next to the sink...
What size block of tofu can you press with this?
A shopper on Sep 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Standard store bought package of tofu fits just fine. The press is 5 1/2" x 6 1/2" x 5 1/4" and we have not purchased any tofu that did not fit this size. Also, we absolutely love this press and bought one for a friend who also loves it.
How long is needed to press the tofu?
A shopper on Jul 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It's pretty quick - I pressed tofu last night that I was going to fry, and I probably let it press about 20 minutes before I sliced it up. The water rises to the top and you pour it off, so basically when it stops producing any more water, it's done. I was using an extra firm tofu, so it may take longer for a softer one.
Can this press be used for paneer?
kitchenscullion on Feb 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I haven’t used paneer but if it comes in a block similar to tofu and it’s fairly firm, it should work.
Is this item available in the stores?
A shopper on Aug 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is available in stores.
