Solid skillet
If you own a smooth top range as I do, this is a great skillet. Use it to sear chops and steaks. Cast iron is heavy; handle with care. Clean up can be a bit of a chore; scouring the inside with coarse salt makes the task easier. Good enamel coating

Awesome do-everything skillet
Got this as a gift for a friend's wedding registry, but I've since used it a couple times. Awesome pan for whatever you can think of - pan searing, frying, sauteeing, even making sauces! Easy to clean, SUPER EVEN heat distribution, non-stick, less maintenance than a traditional cast iron.

One other thing - on some cheaper model enameled cast iron skillets I've used in the past, the enamel has chipped under duress - I'd still never heat an enameled skillet dry (always add oil or ingredients first), but this seems to better withstand heat than other enamel-coated pans I've used.

That's it - awesome skillet. Pricey, but worth it for a pan that'll last you a long time and that you'll use most days (if not most meals).

Now if I could have someone get me one as a gift..

We have an abundance of Staub cookware that we adore and this is a fantastic addition. Its great for searing and braising. I wish there was a 16-18 inch size. I will be getting another one soon.

Really nice, non-stick skillet
We have used our new skillet a few times. It is very easy to clean and cooks nicely. It is also beautifully made. Would recommend.

This skillet is just the right size. Not too big or small. However, I find that I often leave it in the drawer since it is so much heavier than my other fry pans. However, I dream of pineapple upside down cake and it goes well from stove top to oven. I have a glass top range and this has a smooth bottom so I can use it whereas the old fashioned iron skillets like Mom used had the ridged bottoms.

Non-stick? I don't think so
Took boiling water (per instructions) to get stuck on food off the pan after cooking with it. When all was said and done there are gray discolorations on the interior. Followed instructions for care and use to a tee.

Worth every penny.
Excellent product. This is my third Staub piece and one does truly get what one pays for. However, on sale these are steals. Superb quality and craftsmanship. Just used this to sear a ribeye with some rosemary and basted in oil and butter. Wonderful product on the stove and in the oven.

How deep is the skillet? What quart capacity does it have?
A shopper on Aug 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It is 2 inches deep but I have no idea about the quart capacity. I've looked on line and can't find it. I can say it is a generous size and food comes out great. If you have a large family or entertain a lot, go for the 12 inch. The 10 inch is fine for a family of four.
Does the handle get hot?
A shopper on Dec 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: When I move my Staub skillet to move it’s location, either to another burner or to the oven, I use a hot pad. The handle does get warm but not screaming hot. Hope this helps. I love my Staub skillet so much that I bought one for a friend as a gift.
Ie there a lid to fit this skillet?
A shopper on Dec 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No it does not come with a lid. I returned this pan bc I wanted the lid. I went to a local store and found a cuisinart cast iron pan with a lid.
How do I wash the iron Staub Skillets ?
A shopper on Sep 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I wash it lightly with a sponge and dishwashing soap. It can be scrubbed with the scrubbing side of the sponge, but that is rarely necessary. It cleans very quickly. After purchasing the cocette and realizing how easy it was to clean, I saved for the skillet. I wish I had invested in them years ago. They are an amazing improvement over my grandmother's cast iron. But I prefer clean to "seasoned" and tended to scrub off the seasoning on my old cast iron pans. I use the Staub cocette for a wide range of vegetables including beans and the pan mostly for chicken and fish.
what do you use for a cover for the skillet?
A shopper on Jul 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have a grease splash screen that I used over most of my pans when I fry. It has a handle just like a pan but is a mesh screen.
Can I use on induction stovetop?
A shopper on Jan 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I do not have an induction stovetop, but if I remember my high school physics correctly, it should work quite well.
Which Staub lid fits this pan?
Karen T on Nov 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I use an 11inch lid that I purchased years ago - it's Sur La Table brand of 2 skillets with lids.
Can I use a metal spatula with the Staub skillet?
A shopper on Oct 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have with no visibly ill effects. I am in love with this skillet. So much so I bought about three more pieces. They are so versatile. I try to only use wooden or silicone spatulas etc with these so to protect them since they are an investment.
Does the pan measure 10 inches across at the top, or is the measurement reflective of the inside base of the pan?
A shopper on Sep 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I know. It would be sooooo helpful if the manufacturers would just do this automatically to help out all of the online shoppers. (big sigh here). Anyway, my 10 inch skillet measures 8 3/4 inches on the bottom and on the top it measures 10 1/4 inches. Hope this helps!
How heavy is the 10" frying pan?
Jody A on Aug 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: 5-6 lbs.
