Spent Lemon Sweet Tea

About 42 ounces tea concentrate

Ingredients
  • 6 spent (used) lemons, cut in half
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 ounces loose leaf black tea leaves


Procedure
In a medium pot, combine lemon rinds, sugar and 1 cup water. Bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar. Let cool completely.

Make sure the tab is closed, then put syrup, lemons and tea leaves into the steeper of your KitchenAid® Cold Brew Coffee Maker. Pour 34 oz. of cold water over, using a circular motion. Allow the tea to absorb water. Press down the tea and lemons. Make sure they are covered by water. Put on the lid. Brew in the refrigerator for about 12 hours.

After brewing, remove lid; using the handle, lift the steeper and rest it an an angle on the brew jar. Allow to drain for 3 minutes, then change the angle and drain for another 2 minutes. Remove steeper fully and discard used tea and lemons.

Store the tea in the refrigerator. Depending on how strong you like your tea, dilute each glass with water. Serve over ice.
