Apple Pie Whiskey Sour
- 2 oz whiskey (bourbon also works)
- 1 oz fresh lemon juice
- ¾ oz apple cider
- ¼ - ½ oz simple syrup or caramel sauce
- 1 egg white (optional, for froth)
- Ice
For the caramel spice rim —
- 2 tbsp sugar
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- Pinch of ground nutmeg
- Caramel sauce
For garnish —
- Thin apple slice or dehydrated apple wheel
Mix the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg on a small plate for the rim. Spread a thin layer of caramel sauce on the edge of your glass, then roll the rim in the spiced sugar mixture until coated.
In a shaker, combine the whiskey, lemon juice, apple cider, simple syrup or caramel sauce, and egg white if using. Dry shake (no ice) for 15 seconds if using egg white. Add ice and shake again until well chilled and frothy.
Strain into the decorated glass and garnish with an apple slice.
Note:
For a non-alcoholic version, swap the whiskey with:
- 2 oz non-alcoholic whiskey alternative, or
- 1½ oz apple cider + ½ oz brewed black tea
