Feel Free to Mix and Match

As long as the overall look is cohesive, feel free to entertain with mismatched pieces. In fact, by mixing pieces with complementary patterns and colors, you’ll add your own distinctive touch to the table setting. Don’t be afraid to try bold color combinations like yellow and purple or red and aqua.

Table Setting Made Easy

Set utensils in order of their use, starting from the outside and working toward the plate. Whether you’re serving a family dinner or an elegant seven-course meal, your guests will always know which utensil to use next. From left to right your utensils should be arranged as follows: salad fork, dinner fork, dinner plate, dinner knife and soup spoon.

Save Money And Cut Waste With Cloth Napkins

Reduce your paper consumption with reusable napkins that can be easily hand washed and air dried after meals. You may also just drop them in the next load of laundry. If you plan to use cloth napkins frequently, you might want to choose darker colors since white and lighter colored linens show stains.

Keep Your Stainless Flatware Stainless

Clean flatware as soon as possible, as certain foods can eat away the finish. Don’t leave stainless flatware immersed in water too long, only for a few hours. Use only mild detergents and avoid bleach. In the dishwasher, avoid mixing stainless steel flatware with other metals. Dry thoroughly right away.

Avoid The Leaning Tower of Teacups

Stacking can weaken the rims and lead to cracking and chipping. It's best to store cups hanging separately on a rack, but if that's not possible, stack cups no more than two high. Screw in hooks under or inside your kitchen cabinets to hang from their handles or choose a decorative rack to display your beautiful set of teacups.

The Perfect Table

Set the Stage with Style

Of everything on your gift registry, tabletop is the life of the party. Celebrate holidays, dinner parties and special occasions – as well as everyday meals – with charming colors and inspired designs that communicate your personal style.

Express Yourself

If you like simple elegance, the crisp, clean look of white porcelain is a classic choice for your registry. It’s great for formal dinners and easily accessorizes with most décor and table linens. Maybe you like to keep it casual. You’ll find great collections perfect for entertaining that are versatile enough for everyday use as well. And if you decide to dress things up, you can mix and match with formal accent pieces.

Table for Two

When it comes to table linens, glassware, serveware, flatware and dinnerware, you’ll need a set for entertaining and a set for everyday. If space allows, register for additional dinnerware collections for more flexibility when entertaining.

Work the Numbers

Another thing to think about is the size of the party. How many guests will you entertain on a regular basis? If intimate settings are more your taste, you’ll most often be safe with table settings for eight. We recommend twelve to make sure you have enough settings for surprise guests. If you host larger parties, tailor your registry to fit your needs.

Plays Well with Others

It’s easy to get wrapped up in the individual elements of your table settings. Make sure you register for table linens, glassware, serveware, flatware and dinnerware that complement each other, too.

It’s a Wash

For items you’ll use every day, think about how much time you can spend cleaning them. If you want to keep it ultra-simple, keep it dishwasher safe.
