In her new cookbook Baking Chez Moi: Recipes from My Paris Home to Your Home Anywhere Dorie Greenspan explores the world of French desserts, bringing together an irresistible collection of home-baked cakes, tarts, pastries, and cookies. Inspired by her years of travel, these deliciously simple recipes represent several different regions in France, incorporating the country’s traditions, specialities, and seasonal ingredients.

In writing this significant book, Dorie came to understand that although she had been a home baker for more than forty years and a part-time Parisian for the better part of two decades, she could still learn something new almost every day, finding inspiration around each corner. Shopping in the weekly markets sparked ideas for galettes. The windows of the Parisian pastry shops sent her into her kitchen to create new versions of French classics (creampuffs, madeleines, financiers, or sablés), or to “Frenchify” American favorites (Strawberry Shortcakes Franco-American Style, or Le Cheesecake Round-Trip).
