Ingredients
Cozy, warming, and lightly sweet, this Dirty Chai Latte combines spiced chai tea with bold espresso and creamy steamed milk for the perfect pick-me-up, whether it’s a chilly morning or a cozy afternoon treat.
- 2 chai tea bags (or 2 tablespoons loose-leaf chai tea)
- 1 cup hot water
- 1 cup milk of choice (whole, oat, or almond milk)
- 2 shots freshly brewed espresso (or ½ cup strong coffee)
- 1–2 tablespoons honey or light brown sugar, to taste
- Ground cinnamon, for garnish
- Freshly grated nutmeg, optional
Procedure
Steep the chai tea in hot water for 4–5 minutes, then remove the tea bags or strain the leaves. In a small saucepan or milk frother, heat the milk until steaming and frothy. Divide the brewed chai between two mugs, then add one shot of espresso to each. Sweeten with honey or brown sugar to taste, top with steamed milk and foam, and garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon and, if desired, freshly grated nutmeg. Serve immediately.
