Gingerbread Loaf

Ingredients
  • 1 cup molasses
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • 1 ¾ cup all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cloves
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
Procedure

Active Time: 30 minutes

Total Time: 1 hours, 30 minutes

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk the molasses, melted butter, eggs and sugar together until smooth. Wisk in the milk just until incorporated. Add the rest of the dry ingredients to the mix and beat until there are no longer lumps. 
  3. Generously butter and flour the baking loaf. Place on top of a baking sheet and place in the preheated oven. Bake for 1 hour, or until the center of the loaf has set.
  4. Let cool for 10 minutes before turning out onto a serving dish. For best results, remove from the pan when the loaf is still warm.
  5. Dust with powdered sugar and enjoy!
