Homemade Tomato Sauce

Homemade Tomato Sauce
Serves
Yield: about 4 cups of sauce
Ingredients
Sauce:
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
3 garlic cloves, minced
32-ounce can diced tomatoes
1 tablespoon tomato paste
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup thinly sliced fresh basil leaves
Procedure
To prepare the sauce: To a medium saucepan set over medium low heat, add olive oil and garlic. Cook garlic until lightly golden brown and fragrant, about 2 minutes. Carefully add diced tomatoes, tomato paste, salt and pepper; stir to combine. Simmer sauce, stirring occasionally for 20 minutes. Remove sauce from heat and add basil, stir to combine. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper; set aside.
