Class Description: Started in 1890 by 13 year old John Henry Newman, Newman's Fish Company has been in the business of selling the best and freshest fish in Oregon for over a hundred years and has become the place to buy seafood in Portland. Now, Newman's Fish is teaming up with Sur la Table to teach you the secret to turning the best of the ocean's bounty into delicious and inspiring meals. Newman's Fish will be in our kitchen to demonstrate filleting whole fish and answer all your seafood questions. Our chef will walk you through preparing great dishes from the freshest selection of Newman's seafood.
What To Expect: Great cooking isn't about recipes—it's about techniques. In our classes you'll work together with other students in a fun, hands-on environment led by our professional chef instructors.
Classes are 2 to 2 1/2 hours, unless otherwise noted above
You will work with other students in groups of 4
Hands-on classes are limited to 16 students
You will be standing, cooking and working for most of the class
Please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and have long hair tied back
You will enjoy a generous taste of every dish
