The seventh largest country in the world is also the second-most populous, with over a billion inhabitants. In a land with a history that stretches back thousands of years, changing borders and the influx of different civilizations make it difficult to generalize about the country’s cuisine. Each region’s culinary tradition includes an assortment of dishes and techniques that reflect the ethnically diverse population, from the widespread practice of vegetarianism to centuries-old seafood and meat dishes. On this culinary tour, we’ll stop by several different areas to show you how to recreate these unique staples that are wonderfully exotic additions to any cook’s repertoire.
