Jessamyn will demonstrate how to make two ethnic breads from the same dough:
Sesame Seed-Topped Nan-e Nandi (a sweet-and-savory Persian flatbread)
Sugar-Sprinkled Pan de Muerto (a centerpiece bread for Mexico's Day of the Dead)
What you will learn
We're delighted to welcome Jessamyn Rodriguez into the Sur La Table kitchen where she'll discuss her new cookbook The Hot Bread Kitchen Cookbook and demonstrate how to make two delicious ethnic breads, made from the same dough! Following the demonstration, you'll have a chance to ask Jessamyn questions and she'll autograph your copy of The Hot Bread Kitchen Cookbook. Don't miss this one-of-a-kind event! Space is limited, so reserve your spot today.
The Hot Bread Kitchen Cookbook is the first collection of recipes from the social enterprise bakery based in East Harlem. Named Yahoo Food’s Cookbook of the Year and Food52's Piglet Award Winner, it features recipes for multi-ethnic breads like sweet Mexican conchas, rich m'smen flatbreads and chewy Indian naan, along with the delicious things that women around the world serve with them.
Alongside the recipes, you'll find out more about their training program and the lives of the women who have learned with us. There are also stories of how the United Nations of Bread grew from bold idea to New York City institution.
"I'll be pressing The Hot Bread Kitchen Cookbook into the hands of many. It manages to pull off the difficult balance between both a story and a guide: it details the passion project of a small group of amazing individuals while being a practical, useful, down-to-earth book for the home cook who really just wants to make great bread." —Yotam Ottolenghi
Class Bonus: All attendees will go home with a copy of The Hot Bread Kitchen Cookbook, autographed by Jessamyn Rodriguez.
