A MESSAGE TO OUR CUSTOMERS

May 6, 2020

We have some happy news to share. This week, we will begin to re-open our stores in select locations where permitted by government order. To find out if your local Sur La Table store is open, please check our Find a Store page.

Creating a safe and healthy space for our employees and customers is our highest priority. We want you to feel as good about shopping with us as we do about welcoming you back. Here are some of the steps we are taking:

  • Practicing social distancing and maintaining enhanced cleaning protocols, including regularly disinfecting shopping baskets and high-touch surfaces
  • Providing masks and gloves for employees
  • For the comfort and safety of everyone in our stores, we are asking customers who are feeling unwell to visit us at surlatable.com and come into stores in the future when you are well
  • Continuing to pause cooking classes until restrictions lift and we introduce new safety measures (We hope they will resume soon, though! Check our Cooking Classes page for future updates.)
  • Closely monitoring and following CDC guidance

If required by local rules, we may introduce capacity limits or ask that you wear a mask or face covering while shopping. Our store employees will communicate what's required locally.

To our customers staying home, surlatable.com will continue to be here for your cooking, baking, and other needs for making meals at home. Please don’t hesitate to call our Customer Service team at
1-800-243-0852 if you need any assistance. We are happy to help!

Although things in our stores will look a little different in the months ahead, what hasn’t changed is how much we look forward to connecting with you over our shared love of cooking. We have truly missed it, and we can’t wait to see you soon.

April 2, 2020

A lot has happened since our last post, so we want to share an update with you, our community. We had hoped that we would be able open our stores this weekend, but it’s clear now that is not possible. And it’s uncertain when it will be possible. Please continue to check this page for updates.

Our first priority continues to be keeping our employees, customers and communities healthy. We also remain committed to serving our customers 24/7 through surlatable.com. Since COVID-19 began appearing in the U.S., we have worked with our Distribution and Customer Service teams in Indiana to establish social distancing and increased cleaning throughout the facility. We are especially grateful for all of them who make it possible for Sur La Table to remain a resource for cooking and food items. We know that making meals at home is more important than ever. If we can help with product recommendations for your cooking needs, please call our Customer Service team at 1-800-243-0852.

Thank you for the abundance of well wishes that we have received on behalf of our employees and our company. We truly appreciate your support.

Our stores have always been the heart of our business. Every day around the country, Sur La Table teams share cooking's power to connect us and create happiness with customers. That's why it saddens us that at a time when people need comfort and support more than ever, we've made the difficult decision to temporarily close our stores, effective March 20 through at least April 2. Everyone's lives are being impacted by the spread of COVID-19, including all of us here at Sur La Table. Concern for our customers' and employees' health and well-being has always been our top priority. We rely greatly on our stores and the people there who depend on us.

We also want to be a resource for our customers in happy and hard times, which we're surely in now. Everyone here at Sur La Table encourages you to still make space for home cooking, for enjoying a glass of wine, for baking treats. As we have for 48 years, Sur La Table will continue to be a place that helps you do these things. We’re creating resources to help you cook at home (which we’re all doing more these days), including some of our favorite recipes and meal prep ideas. Please join us there, as we’ll be updating content regularly. Our sincerest hope is that very soon, you'll be able to come back into our stores, where our community truly thrives.

For updates on our response to this evolving situation, please check back here.

Sur La Table opened its doors in Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market nearly 50 years ago, inspired by our founder Shirley Collins’ love of cooking. That inspiration remains strong, but things have changed.

We have already closed many stores and cancelled our cooking classes across the country. If you are wondering if your local Sur La Table store is open, please use our Find a Store page for the latest status. We will keep things updated as fast as we can.

For our stores that remain open, we will continue follow strict CDC and local public health guidance to keep our customers, employees, and community safe and healthy. That is our highest priority. And, we want to provide local jobs and a place to find food items and home cooking supplies as long as it is safe to do so.

This is a time of great uncertainty for all of us. There are so many unknowns as things change from hour to hour, city to city. But here’s one thing we know for sure: this is a time to cook at home. We’re adding new resources on our website to help you prepare, cook and find comfort.

And, we’ll share more each day as we all take this one day at a time. Take care of yourself and each other—and keep cooking. There’s no better time for this simple offering of generosity and grace.

From all of us at Sur La Table
