What Makes Ceramic Cookware Nonstick?
Many people don’t realize that nonstick cookware isn’t the same thing as ceramic nonstick cookware. The way that ceramic cookware is made is actually what gives it nonstick properties. Ceramic pots and pans feature a silicone oil on the surface that’s released each time you cook and makes it nonstick. With traditional nonstick pots and pans, the cookware has a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) coating that keeps food from sticking to the surface. In either situation, you won’t need to use butter, oil or cooking sprays to grease the pan before cooking, which allows you to make your meals a little healthier. Plus, the nonstick feature certainly makes for easier post-meal cleaning.
