Could one use a pot like this to cook soup on the stove top, or is it primarily for oven use? I've never had anything like this before--I'd love to be able to make some of my soups in one pot with this and then serve without transferring, but I don't know if the burner heat (gas stove) would damage the base. Thoughts?

The Staub pumpkin is great for stove top, and oven cooking and then taking directly to to table for serving! Your food remains hot through out the entire meal since it is cast iron and holds the heat extremely well. My sweet potato bake with caramelized pecans is going to look fantastic served in my new pumpkin! Buy it! You will be pleased that it is even more beautiful in living color and makes an excellent decoration when not in use!
