Beautiful Decanter

A decanter is used to pour wine or spirits from their original bottle into a more attractive vessel, while also allowing the liquid to breathe and enhance its flavor.

While both decanters and carafes are used to serve liquids, a decanter is specifically designed for wine or spirits and often has a stopper to prevent evaporation. A carafe, on the other hand, can be used for a variety of liquids and typically does not have a stopper.

To clean a decanter, fill it with warm water and a small amount of dish soap. Swirl the mixture around and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, use a decanter cleaning brush to scrub the inside of the decanter. Rinse with warm water and let it air dry upside down.

Most red wines benefit from decanting, as it allows the wine to breathe and can enhance its flavor. White wines and rosés typically do not need to be decanted, but some full-bodied whites can benefit from it. Sparkling wines should never be decanted, as it will cause them to lose their effervescence.

When not in use, your decanter should be stored in a cool, dry place with the stopper removed. This will prevent any moisture from building up inside the decanter and causing mold or mildew. It's also a good idea to cover the opening with a cloth or paper towel to keep out dust and debris.
